I wonder how important silicone is

if I need to go back and redo the rivets on mine
    And my snorkel bracket rivets…

So far on any of that during install I just cleaned and painted the holes. Put some wet paint before squishing in the new rivets. But never did silicone. Probably should have put a dab…

I mean, probably every car with struts (even ones with way heavier hoods) use rivets.

did mine years ago. No loosening.

Good to know. I've also got a 17 tundra, never paid attention to see how those are mounted.

Highly recommend this for your rubber window trim... after a few applications on my 07 the rubber looks like new.

Had struts in my 2016 Sport for over 5 years. No issues with rivets. Had them in my 2008 now around 2 years with no issues. Easier to replace a rivet than lifting the hood with a prop rod.

Looking at that picture that's a spray bottle. The one i use has a foam applicator that you apply over the trim... works good (no overspray!)

Pricey shit. But I just ordered it from Amazon and it has the applicator and says it's for rubber seals etc.

    wait what
303 came out with a foam applicator?
    That would be convenient...

the spray I put into a cup, apply by finger with glove and it's not fun

for door seals I have this:

Not terrible. When I went to log in to 12v solutions website for the install instructions, it said “I did not have an email in their system” or whatever and could not get to the install videos.

By the grace of God someone on a 2nd gen page had done the same install and had all the links to the YouTube videos. So he sent them all to me so that I could get it finished on New Year’s Day. But as mentioned by someone else, the kick panel plug was the worst. As far as full on difficulty, if I had the videos to start with it would have been - 45minute to an hour install.

i have the antenna dangling because I still have to tint my windshield but other than that it’s all together and simple.

installed the redline struts in my 09 sr5 about four months ago. Love them. No more prop bar - full access to the engine bay and smooth action open close. One of my favorite and relatively inexpensive mods. Did not use silicone either, but I did apply color matched paint to the holes after drilling and before mounting with the supplied rivets.

Just make sure you do not touch them with your hand or you will get oil from your hands on the bulb and it will cause it too heat up and burn out quickly.
