    Yep, still waiting.

I don’t think the new GX is showing either

You know what else Ford does in Canuckistan? It shows incoming inventory like Toyota does in the US:

As you'd expect, first ones ordered by dealers are higher-trim Lariat models.

Sometimes I feel like people on this forum are still trapped in a 2010’s mind set when it come to pricing on new vehicles. Keep in mind when the third gen released in 2015 it was basically an 11 year old platform already. The full size market experienced the same changes a while ago. It makes sense that the midsize class is finally getting more creature comforts, power and tech. And the prices have risen accordingly. But Y’all act like you can’t still buy a bare bones SR or SR5. Hell, they even kept leaf springs on the base models for you luddites.

Love my 16, but I’m excited to see the changes in person. The seating position is awful, the ride sucks with the leaf springs, the engine is anemic and the transmission can’t make up its mind. Third gen owners have had to deal with a lot of weird quirks that carried over from the previous gen. I’m sure there will be new quirks to discover on the new gen, but the current platform is such a dinosaur.

You need to start drinking more Tacoma Kool-Aid clearly. What we learned from this forum is 4th gen bad, 3rd gen good, GM/Ford bad.

The configurator allows you to add the rear e-locker for a few hundred bucks to a base XL with vinyl flooring. That means hypothetically you can order a Ranger with similar off-road capability as a Tacoma OR for several thousand dollars less. Of course finding such a configuration in inventory may be very difficult.

It is a dinosaur for sure and inflation is a thing, but man..I built pretty much the same truck/trim I have now (as close as I could get) and there was a 14K difference in what I paid out the door for mine and the build sites price before the distributors get a hold of the price tag. I know there is more capability but I'm not convinced its 14K plus more just yet.

I think for the moment I can deal with a dinosaur...lol

Correct...and you don't have to find it in inventory, just order it that way and wait to pick it up. Toyota has some good features available but I think they miss the mark with the lack of ability to add what you want and not have to add a bunch of fluff to get it. I know it is their way and it saves money for THEM...but it can be frustrating when you actually want one of their vehicles.

That is the thing though, price is quite reasonable on the XCLB SR $34,700, however it is a down grade from the 3rd Gen SR ACLB $32,500, less torque @ 243 vs 265 (what is the point of the turbo then?) no more access cab. Payload didn’t increase all the much, couple hundred pounds, towing is reduced to 3500 lbs from 6500 lbs.

So with a slight price increase, it’s about $2200 (not bad) but you get less truck. If you want a little more power and capacity the price jumps another few grand, and still no access cab.

The only risk is it's a Ford, which means random limp mode and error messages on the trail, only to be mysteriously resolved by shutting off and starting the truck... Even the Jeep people are worried about Ford reliability.

Axing the access cab is unfortunate, it was the ideal model, to be fair not many people bought them. The point of the turbo is to give it a better torque curve. I’ve been pleasantly impressed with Toyotas new 2.4l. It has plenty of power down low, so I think even with that slight loss of torque it will feel better, especially at altitude or in hilly areas. Efficiency should improve at elevation but it’s sort of a wash. That being said it will be a pain in the ass to access the back seats so that’s pointless. I suspect things like sound deadening, safety have been improved, hopefully other design flaws that plagued the old platform will be gone. Weird driveline vibrations etc. At least we get disk brakes. I suppose it will share the same frame as the hilux now.

Similar off-rod capability, sure, if that’s the only single thing you care about. Not many people are just shopping for the cheapest thing with a locker

You could, but your gonna lose the warranty on your diff and probably a few other things if you have to use it the first 60K

I don’t think it’s worth 14 more but I do feel our perception was shifted by the soft redesign on the third gen. If they had completely redesigned it, then we would have seen a big price increase in 15. But Toyota wasn’t ready to commit to turbo engines and the market was just heating up.

The base SR 4th Gen has the detuned engine, 243 TQ versus 265 on the 3rd Gen.

yea referring to the base engine. The mid level engine that most people will buy will be a decent step up from the v6.

Yeah, I am still pissy about it, can you tell? Lol! Just have a love affair with the AC, it is the perfect cab configuration, so have to move to the SR5 DCLB, which is an easy $10K more, and close to $50K OTD, and honestly not a bad thing, $10K more than what I paid for my 3rd Gen, but you get a lot more features. Really think the 4th Gen is going to be a great truck, for even how much I bitch and moan. Lol!

Base engine in the 4th Gen SR with an auto vs my 3rd Gen SR V6 auto.

4G SR vs. 3G SR V6 is a downgrade, towing capacity is nearly cut in half.

I bet driveability-wise, the loss of 20lb ft is more than made up for by arriving 3000rpm sooner. But I don’t race numbers :crapstorm:
