Greetings all! I lurk over in the Wisconsin page and under the 2nd Gen (Best Gen) group as that is what I have; however, one of my students (I am a HS shop teacher) has a 1999 extra cab 4x4 Tacoma. He has somehow destroyed his fuel filler neck. Wondering if anyone has a used one at a fair price laying around. Thanks in advance!

I might have one in a week or two. I'm planning to swap my fuel tank and the new tank has a neck attached, I just need it to warm up enough that I can touch metal without my fingers instantly going numb.

Thanks-let me know when that happens, and what you want for it.

Has your student found a neck yet? I hope so, because I don't think the extra I have will work for their truck.

I didn't realize this when I first replied to the thread, but there are at least three types of filler neck for 1st gens. Each of those types has its own variants for different cab styles, since the differences in wheelbase/bed length cause the filler door in the body to move relative to the fuel tank.

Sorry for the lousy pictures; I originally took them for my own notes and then realized they might be useful to you.

The tank on the left is from a 1998. Its neck is permanently attached to a plate, which in turn attaches to the tank using several bolts and a gasket. I believe this style was used through the 2000 model year.

The tank on the right is from a 2001. It has two flared fittings permanently attached to the tank. The filler neck and vent hose slide on to these fittings.

This is the extra filler neck I have--it's from a 2001 extended cab. I think this filler neck and its tank are unique to the 2001 model year.

2002-2004 trucks had their evap systems updated to move the charcoal canister below the bed, which came with additional vent lines on the filler neck and an additional connection to the tank itself. The extra connection on this tank (from a 2002 extended cab) is just visible in the bottom-right of the picture.
