Lol right, I half expected to be able to open up NSP on it and just start tweaking the tune. They wanted to take a page right out of Holley's book for sure with this one.

man that would be kickass. Plug in a mouse and keyboard or something and make some adjustments right there.

I got my HT installed and the idle surges a ton when warmed up, any pointers to smooth that out?

It's probably just not tuned and so it's trying to make rapid changes just to save the engine from stalling.

Can you either upload your tune here or at least take a picture of the idle control base duty output screen?

It's for sure not tuned, that's on the list. I'm out of town so I will have to get that posted next week.

    Thanks!

No problem, you can actually set up a screen that makes it really easy to watch what the idle control output is doing and what it wants so you can change the numbers in the base output and then it'll be able to correct it on its own from there. When you got a laptop in front of you hit us up in here it's pretty easy to so show someone how to modify

I have a "Stage 1" naturally aspirated 3RZ built by LC running on a Haltech Elite 750 standalone with harness and tune by SNP. Runs great when warm. Problem I'm having is with cold starts. It really doesnt want to start when cold and when it finally does its pretty grumpy. When the engine is at op temp it runs solid. Starts easy, good idle and throttle response. After its full op temp and been run hard the idle oscillates from 850-2000... up, down, up, down...

I'm no expert on the subject, and Gabe seems to believe the problem is elsewhere. I can find no intake or exhaust leaks. There really isnt much for vacuum anymore except IAC which I dont believe even has a role anymore (?). ECU manifold pressure line in directly in the plenum, intake temp sensor is just in front of the throttle body, as is the fuel PSI hose. I understand there's some debate over the fuel PSI hose reference point, but the tune was set with it in front of the TB and Gabe says it probably doesnt matter on a NA motor.

I guess I'm fishing for any thoughts on what could be the reason for a hard start outside of the tune as my tuner is basically saying its not the tune, its mechanical. Any hints? Does the IAC in fact have some kind of role still?

For your idle surging, I fought a lot with that as well. IAC won't affect that. Gabe told me the same thing as far as it being something "mechanical". Similar to you; a lot of the vacuum and egr deleted.

Eventually he gave me the suggestion to try a richer target idle AFR. I changed the idle target from 14.7 to 14.2 and that helped a lot after then dialing back in the idle base tables and base fueling. I started at 13.9 and then worked my way as lean as I could get it at idle before the surging came back.

Not sure if your air intake is stock or not, but I have a 3" cold air intake with a 6in cone filter to let my SC breathe as much as possible. Can't say if it would have been the same with an OEM intake, but I would imagine it being a contributing factor.

IMG_0028.jpg Thanks Ian! Im using the stock air box but i made a 3” inlet from the box to TB. Ill look at those numbers tomorrow and tinker around with that. Overall though, damn, different beast all together!

I'd be willing to have a look at the cold start portion of your tune if you want to upload it.

Thanks Zane. I’m gonna tinker with a for a minute. I’ll drop you a PM if I’m not getting anywhere with it.

Out of nowhere I got a crank no start condition after driving to a destination.
Looking at the HT, I'm getting a trigger reference error after attempter cranking. Not sure if that's a byproduct of it not being able to start, or if I actually have a crank sensor problem.
Is there a way I can look at the signal while cranking in NSP? Also not sure what to look for even if I can....

Hm ok. I'm seeing the trigger signal change on cranking, so must not be that. Gotta be fuel related since it briefly starts with starter fluid.

Circuit opening relay may have gone tits up too, can jump that and see if the pump comes on. But yeah check all fuses first

Do u by chance know which pins I would jump if I wanted to test the relay? I'm thinking it's that since I didn't find any popped fuses
