Great pictures this week. They are all top contenders. 3 really stood out to me but I’m going to go with @picturethis for the win.

Entry. I saw this behemoth again today and I'm always blow away how massive this thing is. Anyone know what's it's used for?

I think that's the Puller. USNS helicopter support ship. That's all I know.

It is certainly a Puller class Expeditionary Mobile Base (ESB). The Puller is stationed in Norfolk so think that may be the USS Miguel Keith (ESB 5) home ported in San Diego. But IIRC they are made in San Diego so it may be a new construction going through sea trials or shakedown. Hard to tell without a hull number and not sure where they are on the construction of the 6 of them.

They are used for a lot of things from special operations to mine clearing and everything in between. When I first reported to San Diego in 77 the USS Tarawa (LPH 1) was tied up on the same pier as my tincan. The Tarawa was brand new and a new class of ship, and huge almost as big as a bird farm. Which in a way it was but for helicopters and amphibious assault. Was easy to tell what ships were used for back then when Moby Dick was still but a wee little minnow LOL.
