Yup. I'm still not back to 100% after having the flu through new years. I spent 48 hours in bed with crazy fever dreams. Only time I got up was to pee and take medicine. Didn't eat until the end of the third day, and all I had was a small orange. It completely levelled me. Doc told me the cough might stick around for 4-6 weeks, and I still feel run down after just a few hours of being up and about. It tore through the office at work too. We had lots of people sick after I was out. Combine that with the frigid weather, and I'm pretty much done with winter at this point. LOL

Yeah, actual flu sucks. Still, I only went to the doc because work requires it if you are out 3 consecutive shifts. Stupid policy that basically penalizes you for using sick time, but it's there to prevent abuse. I get it, but it sucks having to pay my copay to get permission to come back to work.

I feel that man and if you have a high deductible it sucks even more… I think I’m either close to mine or a hit it with my health issues as of late

My deductible is high, and I never go to the doctor. Copay for urgent care (regular docs here are PITA for billing and tied to a shady AF hospital that tries to screw you) is only $40, but it sucks that I have to pay $40 to come back to work.

I think the high today was 20° and the low was -1°. I wish we were in the 50s. Hell, I'd take the 40s! Still wouldn't be riding, but I'd be less frozen. LOL

So why do folks choose to live in extremely cold climates, if it's miserable 3 months out of the year. I'll never understand it.

I like having four distinct seasons. And even though it’s cold here (currently 3) I don’t actually find it miserable, enjoy snow, and enjoy snow sports. Shit I even like driving in the snow.

I don't like bugs that can kill me. I melt over 80°. It also keeps the the population down so if you don't like living on top of each other it's a benefit. Cost of living is also lower because the coastal entitlement mentality doesn't fly here. (That's a generalization. Don't take it personal.)

I hear ya. For me the snow, desert, ocean, mountains are all a 1 hour drive away here in SoCal. I don't agree with my neighbors voting decisions, but It's the best weather money can buy.

What irks me is most cold weather living folks complaining about their cold situation. I don't sit here and complain about my gun laws. I just don't understand how someone that chooses to live in a freezing climate, can complain about it being cold.

Ah, that I can understand. It's more just sharing it, and just exclaiming that it's cold. It's like when I come in from shoveling snow and my facial hair is an iceberg I'll say "Holy shit is it cold out there! I wish it was a little warmer." I'm not so much complaining for the sake of being a picked on victim, but more sharing it in the same way we share when we slept wrong an our back is out. On the internet it's also fun to share it to see the reactions of people who well and truly cannot abide low temperatures. It's fun. Same reason the guys in Florida share their 100°+ high humidity stories. It's fun to get the reaction.

Would it be better if those of us in the cold took the macho bro approach of "it's -10° and I'm fine with it. Anyone who thinks this is cold is a pussy" or would you prefer we were just real about the fact that the cold is uncomfortable and it happens to be what we are experiencing that day?

I actually really like snow and love waking up to seeing everything white outside but I don't like everything else that comes with it (aka no motorcycling, rusty vehicles, shoveling, etc).
