    If that is a twin B&S, they have no trouble running on 1 jug. It's actually kind of hard to tell they are running single cylinder.

    You don't really know until you pull a SP boot and find no change in engine sound.

    @koditten I found this on the internet about these B & S engines....."Keep an eye on the push rods bending again. There was a flaw in these engines that the valve guide will migrate in the head. When this happens it prevents the valve from opening and the when that happens your push rods are the weak link and will bend. You can look through the valve spring to see if your valve guide is migrating up. It will push the valve seal out of place as well.

    What causes this is a combination of oil leaks and debris collecting on the cooling fins on the head which restricts the proper cooling of the head. As the aluminum expands at a faster rate than the valve guide it will allow the guide to migrate out of its hole. There is a fix but will require disassemble of the head and pressing out the valve guides and drilling and tapping holes in the head to insert set screws to better hold the guide in place".

    It all makes perfect sense with as dirty as this engine is and the cooling fins being caked. She also had someone work on it not long ago and replaced the push rod that was broke before.

    Our accountant we've been using for 15+ years, I took her our stuff from the store 3 weeks before Christmas since we closed it in July. She's ask my wife a couple questions about them like normal.

    She just messaged my wife and said she has decided to retire and won't be doing any 2023 taxes.

    What the crap lady :facepalm::smack:

    Why couldn't she have told me this when I DROPPED THEM OFF??????????????

    The same thing happens with the Kawasaki engines too.

    I have one of these B & S engines that needs worked on when I get back to the shop. That one has a charging issue, but I'll check the guides if I looks like it was run hot.

    I'll pull the shroud to check the cooling.

    I will know when my accountant retires. She's my sister. She has her own firm, is just 4 years older than me.

    This is the last thing we have to deal with the store. We thought it would be done with her, you can't tell me she just decided to retire yesterday. What burns me up is I dropped them off to her 3 weeks before Christmas. I was hoping she'd have time to do them before the end of the year knowing she had to start on W2's now.
