Stuff I have in my current/previous vehicles that I don't use: dual-zone climate control, heated seats, power seats, moon roof, tow hitch, AC outlet, fog lights... I'd rather have a cheaper starting price, then throw $10-15k worth of off-road mods on it myself.

Funny thing is Toyota actually offered a base-trim truck with an e-locker before - Trail Edition, except it wasn't cheaper than a TRD OR.

Last I checked, the base engine in the SR 3rd gen was definitely not a V6.

Shall we compare the old base 2.7 vs the new base 2.4?

Seems like an SR 4x4 is perfect for you. Pretty cheap for the truck you get.

Is anyone surprised that not a single 2024 Tacoma has been sold yet?
SG, don't totally discount the XCLB until you spend some time with one in person. I am also disinclined to the new configuration since it will make loading and unloading a PITA (including dogs) but maybe, just maybe, it can still work.

I did say the engine in my current truck. :)

Trying to replace a 3rd Gen ACLB V6 SR with a 4th Gen XCLB SR no other engine options in that cab configuration, so there are some down grades.

I had a 1st Gen Extended Cab, it was a pain in the ass to load and.unload groceries, guessing the 4th Gen would be the same.

Still have my 1st Gen XC after 21 years now, lots of experience loading stuff in and out of there. :D Drive it about once every two weeks, and usually help my professor wife load boxes of books and school supplies almost daily. She is envious of the access cab, and comments every time we use my 3rd Gen. Like today, helped take a bunch of stuff to her art studio. “Boy, those little doors are nice! wish the *Green Bean had them!” (*what she calls the 1st Gen)

Noticed you can’t get a manual in the ‘24 XC to get the upgraded engine with 310 TQ. Prerunner XC has the 317 TQ engine but no 4WD, or manual option.

Since the Pros won't be released until Spring (May?) and I'm sure most of the initial allocations are probably spoken for (and/or) have a ridiculous markup, I will wait until November/December for a 2025. Even if a new Tundra Pro was available for the same price as the Tacoma, I don't think I would go for it. I think the smaller truck suits my needs better.

If you have to use the rear seats regularly, I can see the concern. If you have small kids, the 1"(?) probably won't make a difference. If your kids are larger or you have to carry adults, any Tacoma may not be the best choice.

Just for shits and giggles I built a 2024 F-150 the way I would spec it.

    Supercab 4x4 2.7 EcoBoost, mid (302A) package, 3.55 E-locker. MSRP $59,720.

Found something close on Autotrader: MSRP $59,435, discounted price $56,138, discount $3297. Description says discount is $3696

I’m surprised. That EPA thing and possibly other stuff we don’t know has delayed deliveries pretty significantly. Not a single picture of a truck at a dealer on cars.com.

I use the rear seats regularly.

In my opinion, those seats belong in an extra cab long bed configuration. Seems silly in a double cab.

It’s ok though. Something for everyone. I would just get a short bed Trailhunter, or a lower trim.

    I’m betting they’ll be optional in 2025.

At this rate we may not even see a Pro or Trail Hunter for sale until 2025.

I think the problem will be having a rear facing (even a large forward facing) car seat with a 6+ foot adult sitting in front...in my 16' Tacoma the rear facing car seat had to be in the middle seat because it wasn't fitting. With the pro seats being even bulkier it might be a challenge even fitting the rear facing seat in the middle.

I just can't get over the number of packages...can they consolidate please? Like 5 different packages and call it a day.

Haha - I was online building one and I was going back and forth trying to see the differences in packages and I spent a solid 30 minutes trying to get it sorted out. And its sort of a useless exercise because regionally different options are available...smh.

My local dealership had three listed on its website; now they are gone. Certainly not sold, so maybe they lost their allocation.

Comes with the territory of selling 240k trucks per year, whereas 2nd gens sold about 140k per year.

Look at the Bronco with its 9 trims: Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Heritage, Badlands, Everglades, Wildtrak, Heritage Limited, Raptor... and there are additional packages like Sasquatch that can be superimposed on these trims. :bananadead:

Expect more packages to come out in the future. Maybe there will be a Tacoma Capstone with more chrome but still no rear air vents.
