Because the ready lift kit had strut spacers. The RC kit has lifted struts.

i learned a strut spacer tall kit is for a pavement princess. The strut gives me longer travel

I think its not longer travel. Yes its 6" difference, but the geometry is the same

Strut spacers gives you less travel and makes the ride stiff

    Strut spacers……seriously?
That’s a very poor way of lifting.
Rough Country is a garbage company, always the cheapest lifts that produce horrible results.

Change the lift to a quality brand if you want it to be more driveable. The RC crap has alway been scrap

Maybe he's not posting the top of the suspension because he still has the spacers

That's what I'm thinking, cause the kit he posted has.... STRUT SPACERS.

Just sounds to me like you got taken advantage of at a 4wd shop. Not meaning to blame you for stuff you don't know about. You just happened to jump in with a lot of money and not get what you wanted.

So it is an extended shock, but that does not increase travel. It simply makes the shock longer to reach so you don't need to have a strut spacer. End result is the same. You can't get increased travel without changing other suspension components, starting with the upper control arm (which is probably still a good idea for you, as it could help with your alignment issues).

yes extened shock which gives you more travel then a strut spacer.. that old kit made my truck feel like the front end was metal to metal contact

Coil spacer that sit on top of the coilover do change spring rate, they lessen down travel which makes the ride feel horrible.

Nope. That’s not how it works.

Spacers (whether used with a drop bracket lift or not) do not make the ride stiff because they have no effect on spring rate. There’s nothing inherently wrong with them provided you do not use ones big enough to cause suspension binding or shocks to reach their compressed length before hitting the bump stop.

There is very little difference between the use of spacers vs longer shocks with a drop bracket lift. The longer shocks have a longer rod which is basically the same as a spacer. The amount of shock travel is going to very close to the same. You might get an extra 1/2” if using an extended length shock. If you want to know, look up the compressed and extended length of your two sets of shocks and compare them.

You can think of a drop bracket lift as moving the IFS downwards but otherwise leaving everything else the same. Don’t over think it.
