We dissolved our marriage vs divorce; think mainly because she wanted to protect assets without realizing I had my own (in money).

Her mom had passed and I think she got a nice sum of money from it before we were even legally separated. Worked out for me cause I had my deployment money and more!

 

Seriously, Rebecca's divorce from her ex lasted years. Plus CA has that mandatory 6 month "cooling off" period if you were married more than 7 years or something like that.

 

Cooling off period? No way, never heard of that!

 

Yeah, most states have some set time limit for a cooling off period but it's longer here. It was a big pain for her and probably prolonged the whole thing because of it. She told me it was because they were married just over 7 years that the mandate applied to her, I haven't looked up the actual law though. I'm sure it's more nuanced than that.

I can understand it on one hand, but really should be on a case by case basis.

Wonder how that works in Utah, do you have to wait 4 separate cooling off periods or can you invoke some sort of afront to god clause and get er done faster.

Really though, it doesn't. But I remember as a kid, watching my mom do laundry and seeing the horrific crime scene looking stains on my dad's tighty whiteys while she was folding them and her being like "Ryan, promise me you'll never make your wife have to look at stuff like this"

Looking back, I don't know what my dad was eating for lunch at work or if they had really bad toilet paper or what, but damn

 

Oh fantastic, just got a couple late notices from one agency saying we haven't paid them yet even though I've been approving invoices and sending them to accounting like I always do.

The accountant I work with apparently got fired before xmas and no one bothered telling me, wtf.

Might be, she literally only worked here for maybe 2 weeks. They made a big effort to make sure we were acquainted when she got hired, then she just vanished and no one figured I should know lol.

My friend in IT told me there's a lot of drama going on in accounting right now so you might be on to something

 

The cumulative effect of high inflation and the relentless burden of interest expense will drive people to do stupid things.

But if they were there only 2 weeks, there's basically no way to establish the fraud and then get caught.
