A little of this and a little of that.
    Good evening everyone -

Kinda cool here in Jawga, expecting temps in the low teens tomorrow morning. Nothing like a lot of you up North and out West are having.

    Good thoughts for your Mom.

Good thoughts for your Dad. It certainly is tough seeing your parents struggle with health issues.

Get well soon Mark. Rest up!

    Nice snow munching machine. Cadet?

Safe travels Marty. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Reading the specs on my old winch, it states that the housing is not water proof.

    Now you tell me.

Motor is dead. New watertight winch on its way

I’m glad I’m retired, from about 10 years ago coming home from work.IMG_0227.jpg
This is lake effect snow, 2 miles of open cornfield. They struggle to keep this section open, a band of lake effect has been hitting them for the last 36 hours.

So I didn’t try starting Baby Toy all weekend. Figured he was not happy starting in +20 mid week, no way was he going to start at -40
Been on the plus side all day, he’s in the sun. Just went and fired him up no problems at all.
    Love my Baby Toy!

Good news! It's a 3.4, how could it NOT start?? ;)

I got my beater 5hp MTD snow blower out of the shed. It cranked right up and moved the driveway snow pretty well, it couldn't handle the heavy slush at the top of the driveway where it drips into the gutter/curb going into the street. The little rubber drive wheel make all sorts of unpleasant noises until I unclogged the auger and chute. I don't know why MTD put shear pins on the shaft, the damn thing doesn't make enough power to ever break one, the drive wheel will just slip! LOL

The weather liers are saying that another 3-4" will get me between Thursday night and Friday during the day. We'll see. Its going down to the low teens tonight, the woodstove has been running overtime trying to get some heat into the upper level before tonight Once I go to bed, the fire will die out within a few hours and the house will get chilly again.

On Sunday I got the Falken Rubitracks replaced with Hankook Dynapro ATM Extremes. They seemed quieter on the drive home on Sunday and today they gripped the snow in the road pretty well.

So after sitting around all day waiting for the snow to stop.... Finally about 330pm got outside on the tractor & did the driveway. About 4" of very fine snow. Drive way is all concrete & if you have seen my posts about it before you know its about 500' long & has a 13* incline for the first 200'.

I use a snowsport power blade with the big rubber wiper on the bottom. This time it was on the tractor instead of the mini truck. Did the square up top & then all the way down to the road. Going down is easy until you need to stop on the slope. Going back up? All wheels spinning all the time with just minor pressure down on the blade.

It's in as good of shape as its gonna get & we have the same forecast for Thursday as the guy a few posts back in Gallatin TN... So if I didn't get this off today & she drove on it tomorrow? It would be a week before you could get it off there. It's down to 6F here right now....

Just to soothe the beasts we took them for a walk around the top of the property after the snow plowing was done. That took the starch out of them & they seem quite content to stay inside now.

    That's what died.

Got a Badlands 12k from HF. Got great reviews, about the same size but water proof and wireless. May have to relocate the control unit, like I did on the warn VR

I have that issue also. Of course in the summer it's kinda nice to drop down a few degrees. But this time of year I don't get far.
