I am one of those freaks who hates seeing wires all over my dash from accessories that are suctioned to my windshield, or any aftermarket wires at all for that matter. I even went to the trouble of routing my cell phone power cable to the center console to minimize wires in my cockpit. (BTW it is wonderful)

THE POINT: I want to wire my radar detector up into the ceiling console and clean up the dash.

THE PROBLEM: I can't get the dang thing off the ceiling! There is a screw in the sunglasses compartment, but removing it proved no help.

THE PETITION: Anyone who knows how to get it off? Please let me know how the flip to do it.

PM user "pb2themax", he'd done it before when installing his Scangauge up there. I'm too lazy to look for the thread over on TN now.

If I recall correctly, from pb2themax's postings, after unscrewing the single screw in the sunglass holder, you pull the side near the windshield down and pop off some clips.

if you grab the console towards the front and pull it will come off. there are two clips, one on each side of the console. they will snap off and the console will come out. i had problems too when i wired my radar.

ROCK ON! Thanks Guys. It worked like a charm. It is clipped up there pretty tight and so I figured that it was attached to the carpet, but it poped right out. I gotta admit that it took a lot of guts to yank down on it that hard (OK, it was my friend, but still)

For anyone else trying to do the same, the GREEN WIRE plugged into the compass is the one you want to splice into. it turns on with the key so it's not on all the time, only when it needs to be. My dash looks tons better now.

I replaced my map lights a while ago. If I remember correctly, I removed the clear plastic lens (that you push on to turn on the light). Then I used a jewelers screwdriver to push the bulb out of the socket from the back.
