There are some nice areas and cool stuff to see and do in New Jersey but I do everything possible to NOT have to get fuel there on my bike. I've had one pump jockey insist that ALL bikes require premium fuel and wasn't going to let me fill up with anything else. I closed the gas cap and drove across the street.

Funniest thing to me was coming across one of the bridges back into PA there is only a toll to leave New Jersey but not to enter. This just told me even NJ residents will pay to get out of the state.

I fucking LOVE roundabouts. WA has been all about transitioning to roundabouts and I think they're freaking fantastic.

Those jughandles are unique. I could see how they'd be useful though, especially for motorcyclists.

Roundabouts are fun. I got to do a lap around one over the weekend when I was having too much fun leaning into one and missed the exit I needed to take lol.

I grew up in NJ, always thought that was a dumb law. While in school I worked at Wawa part time pumping gas and that job sucked. I liked when motorcycles showed up cause they're allowed to pump their own, not sure if that's actually true but it's too much of a liability so we never gave riders a hard time.

And that would be the Ben Franklin bridge most likely lol

I have two traffic circles down the road from my house, they're fun to play around on. Tight fast cornering, fast and smooth flow through, going around a few times, just hopping them, wild how a little bit of concrete can provide such great entertainment

I have a good roundabout/traffic circle story. I was on my ZX-10 and my buddy was in his bmw. I blew passed him entering this circle I'm very familiar with. Well I bit off more than I could chew and was quickly heading straight into the curb. I was laid so low turning that I rode the curb, then grinded it like a skateboard, then ended up on top of the grass patch. Didn't crash and was able to hop off the curb and back into the circle ha.

just need to big dick them like Ron Swanson at Home Depot. Grab a pump and go.

this has been my experience too, I only pump my own on the bike.

@50Buck I’m renting a CB500X while in Hawaii for work and the steering feels weird and tight. Kind of like the bike doesn’t want to lean into a corner, needs more than a normal amount of handle bar input to turn and is just stiff feeling going into it. Does that sound like yours?

I just picked it up and am going to check the tire pressure in the morning because it could just be that.

That doesn't sound right at all. With just a little counter steer it tips in find. It's pretty well balanced, so it doesn't dive hard like a top heavy bike, but it's certainly not difficult. Along with checking the pressure, take a look at the tread. If it's been flat spotted it'll fight you like you describe. The CB500X is pretty good for maneuvering, but I'm sure there are more nimble bikes. If you're used to something that just falls into the turns, then it might just be the calmer nature of the CB.

What year is the one you rented?

It’s a 2018. I’m used to taller ADV bikes which definitely lean into a turn easier than shorter/stiffer sport bike. The CB500X should be a bit of a combination between the two I’d think.

Ah, the 2018 was two generations ago as well. They did some refinements in 2019 and then again in 2022, so I don't know exactly how much was changed but I know that each update was said to improve the overall experience to some degree. I also know there are people who've taken that generation, and older ones, all over so even if it's just a little different feel it should be pretty capable. That gen should have 17" wheels front and rear, as they swapped to a 19" in the 2019 update. I would think that would make it more nimble on pavement, but I also know the fork geometry has been adjusted with some of the refreshes. Not sure what all went into each anymore as it's been a while since I was in research mode.

One thing you'll definitely love about it is the fuel economy. That's the biggest thing that I'll miss if I upgrade. Getting 70 MPG has spoiled me.

What kind of tires are on it?

Just sounds like the suspension is way out of whack. Compression too stiff probably. Rental bike probably has weird maintenance

Stock looking tires, 80/20 style typical for a mostly street oriented adv styled bike. I only rode about a mile tonight but it was one of those things that just doesn’t feel right. Definitely could be unfamiliarity with the bike but was also immediately noticeable as weird.

The reason I ask about the tires is some have more square profiles. I was going to google the tire to see what kind of info I could dig up. What you are reporting sounds off, though. I'm just not experienced enough with other bikes to be able to diagnose it, as I've really only ridden the CB and my old VTX, and they are worlds apart. The CB feels like a jet fighter by comparison. LOL
