P0420 Code

People stealing converters , tires, tailgates, literally drilling holes into fuel tank. Yet we think we are in 2023.

 

Cheats exist
They don’t pass visual

not every cat is equal
hopefully there’s no gasket air leak

or needs 100 miles and code clear to reset itself

I don’t think Walker is OEM anything.
Would not use a non OE O2.

But that's what I mean, we aren't in 2023, we are still in old days when you would park your car for 10 minutes, come out and tires were gone

 

Yes it was involve but, it was cheaper and faster if I installed by my self.
I have installed the extenders since 2 days ago no issues found keep you posted if that solved my issue!

Depending on aftermarket cat variables... condition, quality etc, you may rarely encounter the newly "numbed" over parameters territory needed to set the code. Most likely not but a cheap scanner clears it.

 

It was but the time I have to wait for them to fix it was too long so I decided to Fix it my self.

After adding spacers my tacoma ran for 4 weeks without a code but today P4020 showed up again, Any other recommendation to get rid of the code or should I get the Toyota one

I found there is a small filter that can be added to my spacers and that could also help.

 

You've come this far with the spacers I'd probably give the filter a swing then go from there depending on what the spacer filters cost. Also ive seen where they make the spacers in a J shape to keep the exhaust from flowing backward toward the O2 sensors.. may look into those if yours is straight up and down currently.

I fixed my driver side after a P0430 code popped up with an OEM replacement and have had zero issues from it since however a month and a half passed and now I'm getting a CAT code for my passenger side bank 2.. I went ahead and ordered a new OEM CAT for passenger side P0420 code but havent felt like changing it with temps below freezing the last week

Definitely, I'll visual inspect my cat for leaks because is a rock auto OEM part so should work fine but I think might worth to have a look for leaks

 

I'll try this also in the mean time I get my extra filter I'll inspect my cat for leaks maybe there is the issue!

This is the usual fix!
You could spend much bigger $$$ for a new o.e. catalytic converter though. Thats if you have more dollars than sense.
