TLDR: the m18 vac is still one of my best buys. i highly recommend it over the m12 or m18 packout iterations.
    https://www.toolup.com/Milwaukee-0880-20-18V-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-No-Battery-Charger

i bought it on a sale, it was something like $79-89, near when it first debuted. 5.0 batteries are 'adequate' in it. no loss of power, they just seem to go really fast. it's a power hungry vac, but it sucks good too.

i've always loved it because it's small and compact-- i used to carry a stanley similar to this, it was like carrying a loose bowling ball all the time. always falling out, getting in the way, easy to tip over. one of the important aspects to me is the m18's rectangular, which is critical to packing tools into a vehicle, but also large enough that it's not extremely prone to tip overs on odd surfaces.

it's a bit of a pain that the hose is inside the lid, which requires opening/closing it a ton, where the m18 packout definitely has an advantage, but i generally had very few problems with it.

my biggest problem so far was the hose ends-- the locking mechanism is difficult to remove from the 'suck' inlet. i cut the nubs off with a razor blade, at the time i was using it to clean jobs up, but also to blow water out of underground conduits as well, so i needed fast transitions between the 'suck' and 'blow' options. if you're using it for blowing lines in conduit, it's about 60-70% the capability of a 'real' 5 gallon wet/dry vac, which is far more capable than most other options of the same size, and the portability is spectacular for running around.

these days, i'm using it for cleaning out trucks after working on them. it's one of the most common tools in the shop everyone wants to borrow from me due to the compactness and portability. i run a 9.0 in it, almost entirely forget about it for weeks at a time these days.

I was just ogling that ridiculously awesome deal. I have no need for it. I still have a brand new 8AH with rapid charger in the box unopened.
The deals are pretty great today, just entry cost is higher than a casual impulse buy for me.

Wait for the packout items to start showing up in these deals. :bored:

I periodically check for deals on the 12.0. I'd like 2 more.
