I browsed the lot at Thompson, and they have a brand new truck identical to my loaner. The sticker is over $33K and Thompson will only sell at sticker last I heard; I could probably get $8,500 for my truck if I sold it property, so that's still almost $25K. At today's interest rates, even with my good credit (770) and my dad dad co-signing, that's probably over 5%. So, that's about a $27K-$28K loan for a base model Taco 4x4. Screw that!

Even if the transmission fails in my truck and has to be replaced, I would rather dip into my savings and pay cash to fix that, than finance a newer vehicle at today's interest rates. Thompson has one CPO Tacoma, a 2019 DCSB TRD Sport if I remember correctly, and it's like $29K; I was that it was a good deal until I saw that it had almost 70K miles. Being certified preowned, it did have a warranty, but financing a 5-year old vehicle that's more than halfway to 100K miles does not appeal to me in the slightest!

The plunger in the master cylinder was improperly adjusted; I get the truck back tomorrow after Mike thoroughly road-tests it to be absolutely sure there are no repeat performances of what happened last night. Thompson paid to for the cost of having the truck flatbedded from my house to the dealership, so I'm not complaining...

Yeah, the module is part of the master cylinder on some of the 2nd gens.
    So that makes sense.

My truck doesn’t have that setup, my module is a separate unit on the passenger fender well.
Now I know why it cost so much. (Still too much) But makes more sense now.

Because the braking system was thoroughly improved for '09, correct?

Beautifully renovated 1950s split-level in @Stitchgirl90's neighborhood; this is actually the same floorplan as my girlfriend's landlady's house, with the exception of the oversized 2-car garage. That area of the house where the RAV4 is parked was the home's original 1-car garage...

Yeah. They went to Hydraulic boost around 2010.
But didn't know for sure if the 5 lugs got it?
I can only assume they did, there would be no other reason to replace the Master Cylinder with the ABS Module.

I was thinking about that all day and am convinced his truck still has Vacuum Boost, my memory says the Off Road and a couple special editions were the ones with the Hydraulic Booster. If that is the case I am not sure why they changed out the MC either, maybe they marked something on his Invoice.

The master cylinder was not changed as far as I know; I spent less than $2,100 for everything...

Why were they fooling with the pushrod then?

Make me question if what was done "needed to be done"
If the master was never touched.......
Doesn't matter now. As long as truck runs now, that's all that matters.

I sure hope that is not the case too, these damn dealerships are so dishonest and charge ridiculous prices.

My mechanic, who I trust, diagnosed the ABS problem before I brought it to the dealer; I brought it to the dealer on my mechanic's recommendation so it could be confirmed. I believe the truck was throwing an ABS code intermittently on the dealer's scanner. I have no idea what the hell else could have been causing this. The brake pedal went all the way to the floor on January 7th when this first happened. The master cylinder failed in February 2014 and had to be replaced, but no lights came on if I remember correctly.

You guys do not think that the master cylinder should be effected?

I hate to say it, but the way it seems to me at this moment was it nothing more than the pushrod adjustment needed.

Why would then pushrod need to be adjusted, why would the warning lights come on, and why would it throw a code? I've had the ABS and TC lights come on before and it didn't totally immobilize the truck...
