Did some work trying to recover the garage at home today, it has an 1962 oil furnace that makes it quite comfortable.

One of the (several) new tools I justified for the furnace job was this nifty gas leak detector, it wasn't very expensive ($43) on AMZ and even came with name brand batteries.

This is what it shows when ready but not smelling anything that will burn.

This is with a short spritz from an empty can of carburetor cleaner near by - just propellent, no liquid.

    KIMG3758.jpg

The scale goes up and down along with a beeper depending on concentration.

I had it ready when I turned the gas on for the range, it detected the pilot light gas as soon as i stuck the tester in the broiler compartment, the range top doesn't have pilots, you light the burners by hand.

People who hit parked cars. How do they get their license to begin with?:facepalm::facepalm:

I could have used that yesterday. I couldn't get the shop water heater to run. It supplies hot water for the in-floor heating. I've learned over the years that it's only really needed when we get to around -10C. Usually I get it going in the fall, but this year... :anonymous:.
I had to take the burner out and clean out a bunch of rust that had built up. Running stuff like that a week or two a year isn't very kind to it. When I put it back together, my nose was the tester. Good thing it wasn't my hearing.

Years ago I hit a parked car navigating the ancient streets of downtown Gloucester. Just clipped their side rear view mirror. Left a note with my contact info. The owner was very appreciative. We came to an agreement I would pay for the repair without going through insurance. Good outcome all around.

Sorry to hear about Mrs. Green’s car @RustyGreen . I hope that karma comes around quickly for the perp

Unlike! Does Mrs. Green's employment have video cameras covering the parking lot by chance?

I barely touched a newish suburban last year with my Tacoma. Barely scratched it. Left a note, cost me $770 to avoid insurance. I didn’t even fix my truck. White on black. Ugh.

Your follow up actions (acting like a responsible adult) negate association with the people I'm talking about. Also, I bet you haven't done it repeatedly.

I have 2 cousins who lost their licenses due to accidents and hitting parked cars, multiple times. They should not have been given their licenses from the start.
