I am sure that the roller coaster hills have been flattened? I don't recall where, but south end.

Speaking of 395, Owens Valley, and Eastern Sierras, I saw this in Everglades NP:

Got up to mammoth to take advantage of the minimal but fresh snow. Camped off 395 outside of town.20240109_070010.jpg
    20240109_062718.jpg
I set up an indoor/ outdoor hygrometer/thermometer. Got down to 9° outside 87% humidity. With the window cracked for condensation I would let it get down to about 20° inside before I kicked on the Kovea Cupid heater for a little while to get the short bed back up to about 50°, unfortunately also above 80% humidity. I also had a 12v electric blanket powred by my ecoflow, and a metal bottle with hot water inside my sleeping bag.

I figure I'd share this link here even tho it's not really a 395 thing. Huell Howser travelled the state and presented all sorts of locations in the state. You can find some episodes on YouTube but all of his episodes are available here. .

Just got back from yet another trip up the ol' 395. We stayed up in the Buttermilk area and had a great time exploring some new areas. The only downside to coming up in the winter is all the road closures further up the sierras but there is still plenty to do in the lower elevations! I'm always amazed how every visit up here is completely different than the last.

Thanks! I'm getting more comfortable with the new camera and the scenery helped a lot this time.

They only give us a like button here, but sometimes it's not enough.

I want a hate button, because I hate that I wasn't there to see this view with my own eyes.

I even hate your stupid camera now. Just because of how good your photos are. Truly impressive work!

Edit: I was trying to figure out what famous painting this reminded me of... the answer is "A Storm in the Rocky Mountains, Mt. Rosalie." Which not only depicts an entirely different location and composition, but also grossly exaggerates the dramatic splendor of its content... so all the more impressive that one could capture a digital photograph so evocative of this surreal historical image.
