10w30 mexico oil is also thicker...
yeah basically this. If your truck is V6 owners manual says 6.2qts put in 6 qts you are ok. I wouldnt short it and go 5 qts.

Your new oil filter is going to be empty so prob where that.2 is going. If you do oil change and oil is over the lines, its either wrong oil dipstick or thats where the line (dot)is supposed to be. Oil doesnt replicate itself in the engine. Some of you are really over thinking this.

If your level is going up and its milky looking you have other problems...

Does it smell like gas? Leaking fuel into oil?

Agreed. I always short my oil changes by half a quart and fill as necessary. You can under fill these things by a full quart without issue, so you don’t hurt anything by doing that.

Hell, I have one car with a 7 quart pan that never takes more than 6 on the refill. If I put the full 7 in when changing, I’d have issues.

This was an issue I had the first time I changed the oil. Now I just dump in 6qt when I refill.
Checking the oil by pulling the stick and waiting 5 minutes or so b4 sticking it back it to get the level gets you a more accurate reading. oil tends to ride up the dipstick from the tube otherwise.

i also save empty washer fluid bottles. I fill them a qt at a time with water and mark them with a sharpie. Double as excess SEALABLE storage when you might need an extra old fluid container.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Yep, trucks totaled. I can't remember the last time I checked the dipstick when changing oil. I drain it, dump in 6 quarts and button it up. 8 quarts on the Chevy 5.3's in my household. If you really want to feel lucky. Lookup a video changing the oil in the new Silverado 2.7 turbo. It has a composite pan with a plug and you get 6 quarts as soon as you open it.

Well if he added 6 and now has 7 something’s wrong. Or he bought a 5 qt jug thinking it was 4 then added 2 more qts.

Hold the dip stick with the tip down. Additional oil is running up the dip stick the way you're holding it making it look like there is more in there than there really is.

I mean 5. Then check, add the 6th if needed (should be, I agree). Considering OP claims to have added 6 last time, and is obviously more than 1 qt over full, I'd start lower verses higher. Its rare, but sometimes people's issues are more than whats between their ears. To test the theory, start with a number thats easier to count to, and adjust accordingly.
