We were shopping for a RAM 1500 recently and the prices are insane. Like $65k for a base and upwards of $95K for a Rebel. We're going to rent one for a few weeks and call it day.

I am a bit sticker shocked by the new Tacoma. I know inflation is affecting it, but to go from $32K for a well equipped TRDOR in 2016 to $50K for the same truck...smh.

Why do that when you could just fly there, buy an OZ spec diesel Rangie, pop a camper on it, drive around the Outback for a few months, sell it, fly home, plan next trip. Probably just better off hiring a camper though.

The prices of all vehicles is insane. Luckily it looks like people have stopped buying and it’s forcing the dealers to drop prices.

People have stopped buying because there are no trucks to buy?

Nice prices, getting closer to what a basic 1/2 ton work truck is worth. But as you say, Dodge.

My father has a 2014 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and has had no issues with it. I think it just had one recall for some electronics item with the screen or something. I’ve driven it quite a bit and it rides better than my truck and gets better mpgs too.

Yeah, there are a ton of people out there that spew the ram trucks are terrible rhetoric based on the transmissions/engines and interior plastics they built 20+ years ago.

They are not without fault and in no way perfect, but at least in my experience they are not any worse and in some ways better than the other 2 of the big 3 offerings.

I've owned Fords, Chevys, , Rams, Jeeps and Toyotas. The Toyotas, Rams and Jeep are the only vehicles that did not require a major component rebuild (Engine/Transmission) All of them had 100K or more when I got rid of them. My dad owned Dodges, no major component rebuilds on any of them as well. I can't say the same for the Fords and Chevy's.

I'm sure ownership experiences are all across the map but if pressured into making a choice to buy a truck from only the big 3 I would probably buy the Ram if for no other reason than my previous trouble free ownership experiences.

If you threw out reliability resale etc and asked me which trucks do you like...I have always been partial to Chevy trucks.

Yeah. Where is this public data base of every car manufacturer's reliability stats? Pretty sure they keep that stuff to themselves.

No one is claiming Ram is more reliable than Toyota but they are also not in last place among the big 3. Most of the issues they had that earned them the reputation that is repeated over and over were corrected years ago and continue to be improved

See, Ram and its parent companies have been doing better and better among the big 3 truck makers. The only one they weren't ahead of their big 3 competition (what was being talked about) was the JD power where Toyota was beat by Chevy.

I literally used the word 'manufacturer" in my comment.

All of the listings that you provided are based, in least in part, costumer survey data, which makes the information inherently unreliable. Only the repairpal ratings include data from invoices as well. But if those invoices are provided by consumers, rather than auto shops or dealers themselves, then that data is also biased towards the type of consumer who would even share that kind of thing.

My father also had a late 90’s Cummins 2500. My brother still has it and it has 250+K miles on it. Most of the body rusted off and has been replaced but the drivetrain is original. If I get a full-size for my next truck it will probably be a Ram. I like the Tundra better but I’m not taking a risk on an engine failure. Plus all the other stupid problems they have been having like rattling windows, chafed fuel line, etc.
