Not trying to hijack the thread, but I’d love to see your math to back up that wild claim hahaha.

My wife is 5’ 0” and has never driven my Tacoma in 8 years because she says she can’t see over the hood. Hood scoop for the win!

Are you interested in an OEM or aftermarket hood with scoop?

Are you referring to me saying that squared off noses are not a new requirement for pedestrian safety?
    https://www.caranddriver.com/featur...ian-protection-regs-make-cars-fatter-feature/

"Part of what you're seeing is the effect of European and Asian pedestrian-protection requirements that went live last decade. The idea is to leave enough space beneath the hood to keep a struck pedestrian's head from caving it in far enough to hit the top of the engine. So, you'd expect higher hoods and taller noses. But that little bit of air over the intake manifold ripples through and changes everything."
It is amazing that a truck, debuted in 2016, meets the requrements talked about in 2012, inni't? Hahaha.

I went from a sport/scoop/babe magnet to a OR/non-scoop and at 5’7”, on a good day, I can attest to the scoop being annoying with glare at times. I live in Colorado and drive during dusk/dawn hours and I still wouldn’t really call it a major issue, but more of annoyance. I also had no more issues with visibility with the scoop than I did with the non-scoop.

Cons? Yeah you get a fake scoop and less visibility.

It boils down to this, people that don’t have a scooped hood say they suck because they don’t have one. Also if you lift your truck and put big ol tires on it isn’t your vision also limited. Seems to me the trade off in both cases come to the same conclusion we will Compromise safety for looking good every time.

I have one. There is less vision. That is why OR’s don’t come with one.

It also makes putting hood solar harder.

there has been a fix for glare for a long time. Vinyl decal.

I’ve worked around semi trucks for over 36 years and I will never understand why some owners bolt their set to the floor and put a 13” drop Visor over the windshield simply to look cool. I’ve driven them in and out of our shop you can’t see anything but sky. Like I said compromise safety to get the look you want.

    that gives me an idea
Instead of 4th gen TRD Pro isodynamic seat

I could put a tall comfortable Semi seat base, bolt mine on
and cut hole in roof to see driving
perhaps a plastic bubble with RainX
    mini roll bar

When I first got my TRD Sport (with the hood scoop), I didn't like the scoop because of (a) the visibility issue and (b) the fact that it was non-functional. Visibility was largely solved by adjusting (raising) the driver's seat. As for functionality, I realized that the scoop stiffened the hood and prevented it from vibrating at highway speeds. So the scoop does have a function after all, just not the obvious one.
