No markup is a win in my book. Especially since the truck is just coming out.

They are machines, they are all junk, every single one will give you trouble eventually, when is anyone’s guess no matter how much data is collected.

At least how I look at, we are humans we are far from perfect and neither are the machines we create, might be a bit bias though. :)

There are better and worse machines than others. The fact that machines can break doesn’t mean they all do at equal rates.

You might have a problem. The first time you see Underground, you’ll sell it.

    Can’t reason with the unreasonable. ;) :)

Thank you, but not sure I would go that far. :D Been dealing with machines and people for a long time. lol!

GX 550 Snail Trail with HUD, moonroof delete (great option, Lexus), and birth control wheels (which are hard-tied to the model, apparently): $69,125.

Not 100% sure I trust that 3.4L, though.

God, i wish the trd pro had that option. The only option my wife wanted in the rav4 prime was heating steering wheel but it was combined with a moonroof. Nope.

I’m surprised at how many moonroofs the automakers put in vehicles each year.

For every one licensed driver who wishes he/she had a moonroof, there’s literally like 50 who think they’re stupid (or at the very least, unecessary and worthless).

Wait, what? Didn’t you tell me a few pages ago that you’re only considering a new vehicle because you’re worried about how the previous owner maintained a used one? Why care about the reliability in the context of new versus used, but not in the context of brand versus brand?

I did, already bought a new truck. Looked at Fords, Chevys, and Rams. Settled on yet another Toyota because I have owned them for 30+ years, why change now, ya know??? And yes they all gave me trouble.

Sure brand vs brand does matter a little, (more about ergonomics than anything for me) but if it bothers a person too much, off it before the warranty is up. If you don’t care about fixing things keep it. Any vehicle can last as long as you want it to, as long as you’re willing to fix it. I know people who still have the cars that their grandfathers, fathers owned from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and on that have been converted into hot rods. You can park them and look at them or daily drive them, all up to you.

You can take an old truck body and plop it onto a modern chassis and put whatever running gear you so desire in it. Just need money and time. :)

Me personally I am tired of working on shit, so I’ll off my new truck if it gets too fussy. Whether I keep it out of warranty, not sure yet.

I see. I live out in the boonies, there’s a very real cost to me of not only money, but also time, for even warranty work. The closest stealer is an hour and half away, so it’s a large inconvenience to have to bring a vehicle in. That’s where I suppose our valuation of brand vs brand reliability lies. (and yes, I’m aware the 4th gen tacoma is completely unproven at this point. I’m eagerly awaiting this first year-year and a half to see if they introduced a lot of issues)

I used to live out in the boonies, we also owned all Ford’s way back then, we also did all of our own work, everything from from simple brake jobs, axle bearings to full on engine rebuilds. Grew up working on shit, learned to drive when I was 10 so I could haul firewood. And before that it was tractors and ATVs.

Today’s vehicles are a little more complicated, but can still be worked on if you have the proper tools. Me I am over it, don’t even change my oil anymore. Currently have 3 Toyota dealers within 30 minutes, so not an issue. Gladly pay Toyota $70 to change my oil, so I can sit in the lobby to annoy people on here. Get a real kick out of it. :p

We may return to the boonies, wife grew up on a farm, we both miss it. Might buy some land, or might sell everything off, cash out, and hit the road. And that is a completely different rabbit hole to go down concerning which vehicle to purchase, think we worry too much about it though. Isn’t that right @jaxyaks? Lol!

I don't want to claim anything is going over anybody's heads, because that seems to be a sore subject around here; but, as I previously said:
People who work with data (and I don't mean the people who collect it; I mean the people who interpret it, build the models, write the code, etc) get it. Others don't. And if you don't understand something, its easier to brush it off as untrue than to seek understanding. It seems to me like you get it. Most people have no earthly idea how to interpret results from empirical findings, and although its a useful skill, most people don't need the skillset in the paths they walk. But to their points, and usually overused to compensate for not having full understanding, skepticism is healthy and welcome. Data always points to something, but it doesn't negate others' experiences or "feelings." It may point to a bigger picture, and it may have safeguards in place to ensure reliability and validity in the data, but if someone believes the data is bought, biased, etc, I don't think you're going to convince them otherwise.

Wherever I'm going, I'll be there to apply the formula. I'll keep the secret intact.

    It's simple arithmetic. It's a story problem.

If a new car built by my company leaves Chicago traveling west at 60 miles per hour, and the rear differential locks up, and the car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside, does my company initiate a recall?

You take the population of vehicles in the field (A) and multiple it by the probable rate of failure (B), then multiply the result by the average cost of an out-of-court settlement (C).

A times B times C equals X. This is what it will cost if we don't initiate a recall.
If X is greater than the cost of a recall, we recall the cars and no one gets hurt.
If X is less than the cost of a recall, then we don't recall.

There is more to making a purchasing decision than just data alone. Like the ergonomics in the Toyotas over the others, have been driving them for over 30 years, most Toyotas have the controls in relatively the same place, my hands fall naturally on them.

Drove a Jeep Trail Hawk a couple days ago, was fricken lost in it. Co-worker got it stuck, she didn’t know know how to put it in 4WD, took me a couple minutes to figure it out. Have to go through some stupid procedure instead of just yanking back on a t-case lever. Even racked my knee getting out on something hanging from the steering column. Stupid fucking thing… lol! Don’t like the dial-a-transfer case in my 3rd Gen either, much prefer levers.

That said, over time, could get used to any vehicles ergonomics. Just prefer Toyotas. They might of fucked up the 4G by the looks of things. As I have no issue with the seating position in my 3G.

I went to my dealer Thursday. they had 5-24s on the way 4 sports and 1 OFF ROAD 6 Foot Bed. I told then if it was 5 foot I would be interested. They had a take it or leave attitude. I left it.23722495_1488685847863851_5069235961566495388_n.jpg

Dealers are the worst. Wouldn’t it be nice just to order a vehicle on-line then have it show up at your door? Consumers should push for that more so the dealer monkey business can done away with.
