Worked all morning to get the bumper aligned, then started working on the winch...thats when I smelled the skunk. By the time I put stuff away and closed the garage door, my eyes were burning. Couldn't see him but he was close.

Something made him mad to come out in the middle of the day

gonna put this in here where we chat the most... but gonna link back to it over in the tractor thread....

Got up to about 6" of fresh snow. Snowed most of the day. About 4pm it quit so out I go after talking to Tony a bit...
Gonna do my usual & clean the driveway. Cleaned the pad up top & probably the first 175' down the hill.
That's when the trouble started. Was pushing snow as high as the blade at an angle off the side to dump.
All of the sudden it got super slick & around she came. Full 180 on the driveway going down hill. For those who have seem my driveway ... Remember its a 13* slope & 12' wide. Kioti spun all the way around to the 180 mark & I shot the pedal to it & steered into it as it went off the driveway into the yard.
It is a good 3' drop into the yard on an angle on one side & steeper drop on the other into my rocked ditch. This is all bad news if you are getting flipped over or tossed off a tractor. Lucky me it went to the yard side & the Kioti is really well balanced..... Along with me dropping the FEL & then the 3 point as I was in motion. My reflexes ain't what they were in my youth, but it sure felt like I was quick as lightning today. :)

Backed it on over into the yard and went thru the yard to the bottom of the driveway & back on, then headed back up the driveway. NOT pushing anything, just trying to get back to the top. All forward progress stopped with 3 wheels spinning & around she went again which this time put my face towards the road.... & Even with me moving to the reverse pedal she just kept on sliding. I slammed the 3pointg lever & dropped the counter weight on the concrete which acted like an anchor & slowed me to a controlled slide to the bottom.

My neighbor Scott who lives on the other side of the road was outside & I was supposed to go clean his driveway when mine was done. He yelled across to make sure I was ok & then said: maybe you skip mine?

Nah I need a break from this one, so headed across to his house. His driveway is all gravel, so it was easy to do. You go down the hill to his bridge than back up the hill to his house. About 250'. So I plow my way up to the top turn around & make another pass on the other edge. Go back up to chat & take a break. Scott says; man you made my driveway look easy. Your driveway looked pretty scary.

Yup I almost crapped myself but just didn't have time is what I told him. He laughed & said how you gonna get back up there?
Well I wasn't totally defeated yet so at it I went. Got about 100' UP before she was just spinning & going backwards. Folks, backwards on a 4,00lb tractor on a 13* incline is NOT a good thing. Eventually its gonna turn & you either bail or hold on. Since I'm not a quitter? I hold on. Around we go & right thru my garbage can rack as we go off the driveway.

Good news is it stayed upright & the rack was strong enough it didn't collapse. Bad news is it tore all the side pieces off. That's a problem for a summer day. Collected myself & put her back in gear. Wiggled it around & got it out in the street & took another run at it & as soon as could steer it into the yard I did. Then went in the deep snow up the hill/yard around the house to the barn & parked it.

That's enough tempting fate for today. Or so I thought. Walked out the driveway to see if it was really that slick. IT WAS. Soon as hit that crest was on my ass & sliding downhill. YEP that hurt when I hit the concrete, YEP laughed anyway & slid to a stop in the snow berm. Scott went to come over & I yelled & said stay there! No need in both of us being on the ground! He laughed & went up his hill & I crawled over into the yard.

At this point I went back up thru the yard, put away my stuff & said Fuk it till tomorrow or the next day. Have no clue what to do next, maybe take the flame burner to it ? Hmmmmm we'll see.

I’ve always thought it would be nice to have a place on one of the islands around here. Maybe someday. That is definitely the long way home. Be safe…I hope it’s smooth sailing for you.
