I will dies on this hill - if Toyota made something with roughly these dimensions and design cues, with linked and locked solid axles similar to the Dana 44s in a Rubicon, they would wipe the Wrangler and Bronco off the map and completely take over the US market.

 

Might be possible if buyers sign a release that they will not hold Toyota liable for physical harm during a wreck. Kind of like the release we sign at an offroad park.

Well if Jeep can make the Wrangler I don't see why Toyota couldn't make something similar that complies with safety regs with similar retro design cues. They for sure could've made it in the 90s.

I'd have an order in for a short wheelbase Toyota, I've said it here many times, but they're not gonna do it. They have the new Cruiser and the 4Runner and Sequoia, introducing a new model that would likely have a small take rate against those, especially in this country, isn't in their interest. If they do it, awesome, but really its either vintage import or new 2 door Bronco or JL, choose your poison. Don't think they care about that market segment.

 

I had some friends who were killed or became partially paralyzed when their CJs rolled. They all filed huge lawsuits against American Motors. That drove AMC into financial ruin.

Plenty of people roll their rigs at the park I would go to a lot.

 

I mean I'm sure you can do that in the Rock garden at ours but you don't have to pay or sign anything to go in
