I remember looking at a new one in 08. A coworker had one. They drank gas like crazy.

I did my part and have bought 4 manuals new :spending:

But some of that is on the manufacturers of only offering few manuals in goofy specs or expensive trim levels and then complain that no one bought them.

    What are you talking about?

Stellantis hasn't gotten anything right, and as long as they keep putting high HP engines in stupid chassis, they'll keep selling IE Chargers and Challengers

That is, as long as Chrysler Capital keeps financing people with a heartbeat

It was kind of a dumb vehicle. It's neat is a novelty but it didn't need to be more than a couple years worth of sales. Also some of the absolute worst seating position and visibility of any vehicle I've ever been in

Xterras are pretty cool with the titan suspension swaps. Basically a budget oem mid/long travel.

That wasn't the argument though, it was the point that no other manufacturer offers solid axles in a small vehicle in 2024, and there are reasons for that.
And to be perfectly honest, the whole manufacturer vs manufacturer fanboy shit is exhausting. Toyota elitists are just as bad as douchebag Jeep heads.
I'm sure I could go buy a JL, not modify it, and be fine, just the same as going to buy a 3rd gen Tacoma and being fine. Its all boring.

I know the off road market is still pretty niche, but on paper, the locked Dana 44s on the Rubicon are the most capable set up you can get from the factory, if you overlook all the build quality issues with Stellantis. This vid sums it up pretty well if you care to watch. I’ve been following his LX450 build as well.

The more 'props' you give Jeep, the less genuine you sound especially since you haven't been on the 'praise Jeep' bandwagon at all even recently

You're so out of touch with yourself even lol

That was most likely the deal breaker for me and my 6'2" long legs. I wanted to buy an Izusu Trooper diesel when they first came out. I could not comfortably sit in one. It was just painful.

Toyota also finally caved and started offering a manual on the new Supra due to outcry from enthusiasts. The demand might not be overwhelming, but it’s there.

I said their only advantage was the solid axles. I know you can make IFS even better than a solid axle if you dump enough money into it, but dollar for dollar SAs are hard to beat. After all, the rear axles are still solid on Toyota trucks too. You’d think they who’ve gone IRS by now if it was really better.

You're one of the gooduns. I'm with ya, its funny when they offer them on higher spec only.
One thing I'll give Subaru is they offered base model Imprezas for a long time with a manual, cheapest way to get into one of their cars I believe. And it certainly wasn't for performance' sake.

I don’t like them either, but they go for crazy money nowadays for some reason. It might be ironically because they didn’t sell well after the first couple years of production, making the 2010+ models with the 8.2” rear and other upgrades pretty rare nowadays.

So much this. Worst visibility in an SUV I've driven.

I'm perfectly happy with the limitations of this rig. It keeps all wheels on the ground while running Black Bear. The ride was good enough that my daughter slept through the whole trail.
