it's about the same dimensions as the other options. Same width, slightly taller because it has the lower mounts built in. close to the same depth. Quite a lot lighter, its only 20lbs. Curious why you think it's so big

It's actually almost exactly the same.

    Spidertrax standard width:

Local guy has one in a car around here and it looks absolutely massive. First time I looked at it I wasn’t even sure what I was looking at. With the 3rd member in it, it’s girthy. I don’t see the dimensions on the spidertrax depth so that may be the difference.

Also, I may be wrong on this. But I believe for front application you have to go high pinion.

Whatever you do. Running on the coast side of the gear shouldn’t even be a consideration.

Yeah that's why I'm trying to figure out what people are doing, because I see lots of low pinion front diffs, but can't find any reverse cut gears. High pinion would make things much more difficult. There are ways to mitigate the gears pushing eachother apart running on the coast side with a load bolt and larger bearings/journals etc, but it ends up being really expensive.

Anyone experienced this before? Truck chewed up another set of bushings....

Has taken no big hits, had a shop do the install and they went in without a fuss. Both fwd face of the aft mount shredded, with a large gap on the aft/aft bushing.

    Alignment?

Poly bushings suck. Have some delrin bushings made up.

Funny you mention this, I have two lathes at work and didn't even think to do so.

Where are your alignment cams - all out / all in / centered - crossed up alignment cams (rear all out, front all in) will do that regardless of what you use and should be corrected at the alignment instead of brute force of strength of material.

Rear pivot eats the vast majority of forces. I don’t care what anybody says. Uniball or delrin. No other option. Uniball, is ideal. Poly simply cannot endure these forces, especially with a small diameter bushing. That “axle” or “pin” is constantly pinching the poly between the sleeve. They literally disintegrate. His issue ain’t alignment.

The further off from parallel to the frame, the higher amount of wear will occur at a faster rate. I’ve seen poly bushings last a long time especially if not in road salt and other corrosive environments and a good alignment but if you have a more durable material things will of course last longer. Uniball wouldn’t be wonderful in a corrosive environment. A buddy is trying out the TMR lifetime rod ends for his steering - could be an interesting thing if it lasts longer. I believe you said you’ve been running a smaller size heim boot and seeing more life result.

    I think you'd appreicate this.

There are reverse cut gear sets for the front diff. Just like there are Dana 60 gear sets and reverse cut Dana 60 for front axles.

I'd love a link or manufacturer name if you have one. The only reverse cut gears I can find are for the true Hi-9 which don't work in a standard 9" diff. Haven't been able to find any other reverse cut gears.

100% this is the setup, and the issue is like exacerbated by my dailying of the truck in a harsh Canadian climate. Will replace and use a less aggressive alignment.

    Thanks.

Can confirm I had the same issues going through Poly LCA bushings at a high rate when I had the alignment crossed up like that.

Everybody online says you can get reverse cut 9" gears but never says where to get them, and every diff shop I've called says they don't exist.

Closest I can find is 8.8 in like 1 ratio which I think maybe you can fit in the 9" but I'm not sure

Cool drill press, heavy duty. I just got a new direct drive drill press I'm pretty stoked on, but it's not as mean as that one is

I'll call them next week when they are open. I've called a couple local diff shops, as well as currie, Dutchman and spidertrax
