This is why I'm hesitant to take it. Even though this truck came with a lifetime powertrain warranty, I opted to do all the maintenance myself. I've heard so many horror stories from dealers.

The motor does kind of sound like a sewing machine, but this sound is seperate from that valvetrain noise.

2023 Tacoma 15,000 miles. Don't know if this is the same thing or not.

I'll give my answer first then explain. Driver's side firewall insulation flutters against the firewall. I figured it out by shoving a towel into the space in front of it to pin it in place and block wind. Once I proved that was the cause I took some soft pipe insulation and put it between the brake booster to hold it tight. I might try something different later but works for now.

Symptom: Fluttering/tapping sound on driver's side at 40 to 50 mph and higher. Gradually worsened to doing it at 30 mph and up. Best description would be like a piece of plastic bouncing off metal. Initially I couldn't hear it if the radio was turned on, but as it worsened it became much more prominent.

    Easy to check:)

It started as a barely noticeable

Update - I noticed the noise again and have it completely resolved. A harness plastic tag in the engine bay above the wheel well was flapping against the body. This happened anywhere from 35 mph and up. I put a wire tie around it versus pulling off the tag. Also removed all the wedges I had put against the firewall insulation. Peace and quiet on the highway again:)

My Tacoma makes a very fast ticking noise when I accelerate. Sounds like a very fast tick ah tick ah tick ah tick ah tick. Any of you guys experience this? Thanks for any help!
