    I went from a 2002 Duramax-Allison crew to a 2012 F150!to a 2021 Tundra. Definitely interested in moving to a 2025 Tacoma Trailhunter.

Less power, less space, less pulling but more reliability & less cost.

However, the new 24 Tacoma will have small law mower engine under the hood, so none of the things I mentioned apply.

If you carry sheets a lot for work just realize the width between the wheel wells won’t let you lay anything flat in the bed. The only midsized that have over 48” between the wheel wells is the 2024 ranger and ridgelines

If you utilize the cutouts in the bed you can carry sheets flat, works great.

If you’re carrying a lot of sheets for work, you probably shouldn’t have a midsize. :)

Can’t even remember the last time I hauled plywood or drywall. When I did used my 5X8 trailer, so much easier to load and unload than any truck bed. :)

I actually engineered a system that goes together quickly with a couple wing-nuts. It's way more than necessary but is quite useful for hauling drywall and plywood.

    That is pretty good.

Do like my trailer an awful lot for the nasty stuff.

I would trade my 3rd gen tomorrow for a 4th gen if they would have made the bed dimensions allow 48" between the wheel wells. The didn't so I figure I'll keep this one for a few more years and might buy another for a spare. That is probably one of the biggest things I miss from a full size.

I daily a 2018 F 150. I got to crawl all over a Tacoma TRD Pro, Trail Master and TRD sport yesterday at SEMA during a measuring session.

I will say, It has me thinking about the same move. I have a F-450 if I need to tow anything so letting my F-150 go isn't as big of a deal anymore. The one think I do wonder, and have noticed on Toyotas VS Ford, is the Toyota lane assist and adaptive cruise does not seem to work near as well as it does on my wife's explorer... If those features matter to you... I don't have them on my 150, and have only driven a 3G Tundra a handful of times with it.

The 4th gen Tacoma is 77.9 inches wide.

An F150 is 79.9 inches wide.

    2 inch difference now.

The tacoma will cost more than the F150... and it is about 30% smaller inside. First model year will likely have a lot of initial hick ups also... given that this is an "All new generation"

Had an F-150 like 15 yrs ago. I experienced a lot of mechanical breakdowns with it and told myself to never buy Ford again.

AWD Ridgeline with slightly upgraded tires.

More comfy than anything mentioned (and 40k/yr calls for comfy), adequate hauling for what you mention. Reliability and better MPG.

Well I went from a Tacoma to F150. I bought it CPO and have had it for a year now. F150 wins at everything but tight trails and parking lots. Just did off-roading in the F150 and it did really well albeit its a big tank and rides kind of stiff. No way it could do some of the tight rocky trails Ive done in the Taco. The Elocker works in High or Low and I think 2wd but haven't tried that. If I'm Towing / Hauling I can toggle thru the settings to show the trans temp on the display among a bunch of other important truck stuff. Its just so much more comfortable and not talking about the back seat which is usually all folded up and I keep my tools there. It's completely flat and I could sleep there if I had to. Its that roomy. I do miss the Tacoma but my friend bought it so I see it all the time. No regrets because my family and truck needs have grown so I had to get a full size. The 3.5 EB is a beast when you need it to be but usually I just cruise around and get the same mi as I did in the Taco but get gas half as often because I have the 36gal tank. I stay pretty local so I can go one month on a tank sometimes (500 mi of mostly around town so that's nice) But was a shocker when I rang up $140 at the pump once. my 2c I'm curious about the 4th gen especially the trailhunter which has a lot of very cool equipment on it. So one day I may go back if it would work for me as the kids will be off the college in a couple years. I just went to try to build one and I don't see the Pro or Trailhunter available yet. Or the iforce max PT?

I do want to hear in the new Tacamo with Safety Sense 3.0 if either of those are improved - lane assist and adaptive cruise. In both our 2022 Rav4 and 2022 Corolla Cross I have lane assist disabled because it makes too many errors especially on interstate exits where you aren't taking the exit. I'd like to leave that feature on for my daughter, she needs all the help she can get!

The adaptive cruise I do use but as we know it overreacts to cars taking exits and will hard brake, plus, if you pull out to overtake or the road clears, the car accelerates like it is at a drag strip to get up to speed. That's just an odd behavior, take it easy!

I'm going from the F150 2.7 to a Tacoma. I rarely fill my bed, and if I do I can use one of my trailers. In the last 10 years I've gone from a RAM 1500 > 2019 Ford Ranger > F150. I can say so far my favorite was the Ranger. Mid size is just more fun to drive. I don't tow anything more than my wife's Subaru could pull. Smaller trucks just feel more agile. I'm looking forward to my TRD OR. I'm going to have fun building up a truck. Just never liked the F150 enough to do that. The only reason I got the F150 was that it was 21 and Carvana was paying stupid money for used cars. Sold my Ranger for $1000 more than I paid. There was a new Ranger supposedly coming, so I figured I could drive the F150 around for a while and see what happened since I got it for a good price. I just hated the previous Gen Tacoma seating position and motor so that wasn't an option for me. I ordered a 24 Ranger in June and it still hasn't scheduled. I got my Tacoma build date and cancelled the Ranger. Meantime my F150 Infotainment system is glitchy, parking sensors just randomly freak out, and I've had at least 5 recalls so far. My warranty runs out in May and I don't trust this thing enough to fix it on my dime. Long story, but getting back to original premise - Mid Sizers are just more fun to drive, at least for me.

Cool build but that is a ridiculous vehicle, that nobody has asked for. Can't see many people wanting on. I was next to a V8 Tremor th other day, that thing sounded nice. The V8 sound alone would have me contemplating the V8 Tremor over the 3.5tt Raptor if I was in the market for a Raptor.
