Wanna know what's funnier? Someone will willingly pay the asking price, and that's why used prices continue to stay fucked.

I think I'd lease a Kia Rio for 200 bucks a month before paying $25k for that truck. That still won't get you a 1st gen or a truck.

That is such a ridiculous price.

Recently I offered to buy my oldest daughter a 1st Gen Tacoma.

These are overpriced in my opinion with almost the same mileage and half the cost.

Hell, I'm half tempted to go buy one of these if they would take 10-11K.

Also, I think it’s funny how the carfax tells the story of this truck. It looks like in its first ten years, it was used pretty regularly (8k a year - 80k total), then it was driven 2k a year till 2021. By the end of its first ownership, it was being serviced at Walmart (not that there is anything wrong with that, but for a “collector” truck, that seems funny). Then it looks like it went to a Toyota dealership, then to this dealership, which brought it up to Illinois from Texas. Now, it’s top dollar, and someone may or may not pay that much for it. It went from Grandpa truck to a “collector”.

10-11k isn’t completely terrible, but I feel like I remember when there where 4-7k trucks with this mileage all day. I’ve been looking to buy either a 2nd gen or 1st gen, just to have, and the price creep has kept me away. I feel like to me there are better things you can buy for $25,000, but I do love me a nice 1st/2nd gen

This is the one I’ve been eyeing https://knoxdrives.com/vdp/20762872/Used-2012-Toyota-Tacoma-for-sale-in-Knoxville-TN

but I wish I had more garage/ driveway space.

I agree, prices have been a bit high still. Our 2014 Tacoma LB Sport was totaled out in 2018 with 60k miles and we got 21K for it.

I wouldn't mind another 1st Gen. Had 3 so far. One auto, two manuals and one of those two were SC'd. Fun trucks when you can put down over 300 hp.

The problem is that new truck prices are so stupid high that it makes these trucks a bargain comparably.

Depends how you look at it I guess. To me I can justify spending $45,000 on a brand new car much easier than spending $25,000 on an almost 30 year old truck with 120k miles.

Just using one of those inflation calculators online, $20,000 (roughly msrp) in 1995 is worth $40,330 today. A new Tacoma is very roughly $40,000-$45,000.
