Feels like a whopping 11 here with actual temperature is 24. I should have never let the goobers at work know I have a 4x4 then I might have been able to stay home a few days. :annoyed::eek:

You happy with it? Somewhere online I saw 1997-1999 were the most dependable. I think im going to start looking for a 4x4 that can be flat towed. Kinda looking at a TJ or a Suzuki sidekick.

Hahaha funny you say that. When I was working they knew I lived way far out so if I sent them a photo I was good not to go.

Just a bigger pain. If you go to a campsite and use the towed vehicle you’re still having to back that dolly around or worry about it walking off.

Had it not been totaled by getting rear ended at a red light, I'd probably still be driving it and never bought my Tacoma. I had 215K miles on the original clutch. I did have to replace the head gasket one time b/c the rad hose blew off and I over heated it :D After having the Tacoma, I would never go back to DD'ing a Wrangler.....but it was a great vehicle for me. I bought it for my 30th bday and drove it for 9 years. How I meet @Barrie and @Hafaday

Mine was a 2002 with the D44 rear end(D35 is the weaker c-clip axle). It's crazy b/c the D44 was like a $250 option and rarely chosen

This can happen with bigger tires and the weak D35

    broken_axle_part_1.jpg

People can talk all the shit they want.........but if you're looking for off-road..........a Wrangler is the King of the Hill out of the box.

Any major failures to watch for or maintenance issues? 4.0 the better motor?

The 4.0 is the only way to go. It's still slow....but a damn tractor motor :D Frame rust can be an issue, the D35 rear end, the head gasket(same as the LC inline 6). If you can find a 1995 with the 4.0 and leafs........great little rig. The TJ's(97-06) got coil springs. If you go YJ and want the look of the old CJ's(round headlights)....the front clip will swap over.

Some of the auto TJ's(05-06 I think) had issues with the auto ECU or something.

The AX15 manual in the YJ was a decent trans. The TJ manual was the NV3550(came in Dodge 1500's) and is a great trans for that little rig.

I can shoot the shit ALL DAY about Wranglers

Yea just turbo. I test drove both. Biggest difference was the hybrid has 0 lag from when you hit the pedal. Power is instant. The non hybrid takes about 1-1.5 sec to kick in. But plenty of power can’t understate that enough lol
