I could build you a flatbed for less than their overpriced bumper….

Not a fan that the hitch isnt moved up into the bumper for their swingout. I want some clearance gains for $3k

Yeah I asked some questions in their thread that they didn’t like, they were responsive then I never got an answer.

IMO I don’t think a bumper that does not replace the hitch should be used for recovery scenarios. You loose a lot of mounting points to the frame that way.

    That is kinda loaded...
I had a rig year back, receiver was built into HC bumper. Towed cross country with it(just 2 bikes, and some gear).
But, with as fast as insurance companies are to blame, or pass the buck, for now, I'll keep the "rated hitch". People are too fking stupid. Has nothing to do with concern for my, or a fabricators ability to build, or something designed well. Overthinking it? Maybe. But, family moto is, if it weren't for bad luck, wouldn't have any luck at all....
If I was back in Texas, or somewhere else, wouldn't think too much of it, and probably be running something different. Probably the CoastalOffroad rear.. really wanted to do their bumpers on my Frontier.

And as far as recovery, I guess that would depend on how it's built/designed as well. I've seen plenty of shackle mounts that should NEVER be used...

True different people have different needs. But if you’re keeping the hitch I’d just use a receiver shackle. Most of my concern isn’t the bumper itself. It’s the maybe 1/8 c channel frame being mounted to in two small areas.

as for apogee I only asked the questions cause they were all about engineered solutions with simulations. Which I am a big fan of and wanted to see thier findings.

    Totally get that.
I went the route I did, to keep my hitch, as the plan WAS to get a nice square drop, and spend more time, OUT.
Not a factor at the moment with her schedule(Tues -Sat), and my 6x12 enclosed, is only 3500 total.
My bumper has a button of tie ins, and some still aren't installed, won't be until I instal the swing outs.
Holding off on that until I get my new rear springs in, I'm already soft in the rear, and kissing the bump stops.. anyway rambling.
Personally, agree with receiver shackle, and have one. I wouldn't be too shy on using the shackles on mine though.
As far as Apogee... I dropped that thought a long time ago., and stopped following the discussion.

Rides soooo smooth! Did 1000 miles in 17.5 hours

has some wants and needs! Need to do the headlight upgrade and get some fogs in like now. Need tundra brake booster. Need to get a 12-15 hood and the small bits for latching to get the facelift done. The list goes on but in a good way!

So, registration, insurance and then mod day? Or is it just going to be a wheeling rig?
This reminds me. I need to look up your DRL issue. PM or text me the VIN so I have the correct option list.
