I saw your earlier posts about getting these tires in. Glad to see yours are mounted! Quick question, have you noticed road noise from these tires? I have the Wildpeak MT01 in the same size and since they're mud tires, they're naturally louder.

there is slightly more road noise than the stock Goodyears but overall it’s really not bad at all.

@Bobweirisajedi Could I trouble you for a picture of the front of the truck? I feel like that’s the angle where the skinnies look the skinniest.

Thank you for your service :hattip:lol

Curious what your MPG drop ended up being as well, thanks!

Here are some driveway shots I already took, I’ll get some of the entire front today.

Thanks for posting that and great to see his clarification on the wet traction which was mentioned previously. Sounds like a bit of a mixed bag here and some may prefer the AT3W while others prefer the AT4W. I LOVED the AT3W and don't like the idea of slightly worse wet traction or stiffer ride. But, considering other aspects of the tire have been improved and, most importantly now available in 255/85R16, I think the compromise will be worth it.

I also wonder how the AT4W compares to other tires in terms of wet traction. The AT3W was one of the best out there so if the AT4W is worse, how much worse? Is it still better than other options? I'd love to see him update his Best AT Tire List with the AT4W to see how it stacks up with other models. The other tire I was considering is #7 on that list and has some subpar wet traction and noise ratings I'm still thinking the AT4W is a solid choice.

Ugh, I gotta get these things mounted so I can get a first hand feel.

Probably some valid points in the article, thanks for sharing. It just seems like it was written by a robot.

Interesting. I got the feeling he was somewhat just parroting info from the manufacturer and then adding in his own experience as it applied in terms of validating those manufacturer claims and specs. He also claims to be a "tire designer" which makes me think engineer and if that was right then it tracks pretty well with how the article sounds. That was my original thought on why it reads as it does but ChatGPT is a very interesting theory that also makes sense.

EDIT: Now after taking a second look, it looks like his posts don't start until halfway thru last year and there's a lot of content since then. Makes me think it's much less likely he's actually had personal experience with everything he claims but I also haven't really read thru the content.

Why does it seem like every tire and size that I want doesn't come in a C-load rating? Either I find the tire and size but the rating is E, or I find the right rating and brand tire but the size is wrong. I really want a 275/70/17 in C-load. Is that too much to ask? lol

A 285/70/17 is only 4/10's of an inch wider and just a hair over 1/2" taller. You can find a "C" load in that size in about every brand and tread design.

The only real reason why I like the 275 is because I have 7" Sema wheels and I feel like 285s get to be a bit wide for these wheels. I know a lot of people run them without issues but it starts to look funny IMO.

This is more of a confirming fitment post but I’m stoked that a company finally offered a 255/85 in a winter rated AT. I’m in UT and drive in snow frequently. Without wanting to commit to 285s I jumped on these when I heard they came out. They fit a stock Pro with minimal rubbing on the front bumper over bumps when turning the perfect amount. Like entering driveways and such also clear the stock aluminum control arms which was surprisingly hard to confirm that they fit.

Sharp looking taco and a good looking tire and wheel combo. I think that size tire is a great option for people to get most of the height advantage that a tall/skinny tire offers without having to do a ton of the other modifications right off the top.
