I like it when a tractor trailer moves from the left lane into the right lane right? Is the on-ramp is getting on the highway so the people getting on have nowhere to go because the tractor trailer driver couldn't wait 10 seconds

I swear, the I-15 freeway in Utah has been under construction for 40+years.

One of the 2-lane (each way) highways in my area is always under construction too. One of the last projects they finished involved temporarily putting a ~6 foot divide between the lanes about 1/2 mile long. There were plenty of signs saying lane split ahead. I can't tell you how many people would slow down to figure out which way they needed to go.

There's another area under a 3 year construction project on I-95, so traffic taking the exit for 95N is usually backed up. People will fly by in the lane for the 95S exit and try to force their way in to the 95N lane, usually only several feet before the concrete divider.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding this but the cars were going around the gates right? How is this the trains fault?

Yeah, they do it all the time. It blows me away. I have seen people do it in front of me and I sit there in disbelief with my phone recording just to catch it on video if it ended badly for them.

    You can't fix stupid.

Shit, I have seen homeless people pushing there loaded down carts across with the lights flashing and gates down.

And that train is super quiet and fast AF....you seriously can't even hear it coming. Freight train is a different animal, you know that thing is coming.

Got one of those on my daily commute. Almost daily wrecks at the split too

Lucky for me, the vast amount of rail where I live is all loud AF freight

IMG_0058.jpg I’m making a joke, this is my project. That’s a corner column on a six story building. im still trying to wrap my head around the force needed to take that column out then continue and take a CMU concrete filled wall out.
a sheriff deputy called me at 3a last night and sent me that, asked how bad this is. Told him he needs to get everyone out asap.

It’ll buff out. Really questioning having to clear a 6 story building cause a column got taken out and a wall. What kind of shoddy construction is FL clearing these days? It’s not like the surf site apartment building.

Well, it is a major column for a corner of a 6 story building above so there's that. Most contractors would know that, and it has nothing to do with shoddy construction, it has to do with safety and what a structural engineer has to say about it. Whether he is being over cautious or not isn't my concern, safety is. More than likely it won't affect anything above, its the "in case of shit factor". And its not being fully closed, just the corner that its at, the rest of the bldg is fine to be worked on.
It turns out he was doing well into the hundred MPH range, thats a shit ton of kinetic energy. I wouldn't expect a CG comp tech to understand that either. You want to work in that corner knowing there is 25% of the column supporting where you're standing? :notsure:

    Stuff. Also things.
    That is so fucking wild!

I’m glad that no one beyond the dipshit driver was hurt or killed. I’m also super interested to hear what your structural engineer has to say about things. Specifically, what sort of shock loading that may have introduced both locally at the column and also in the near vicinity in the rest of the structure.
