2024 Tacomas are delayed

Even if they increase the msrp a lot of dealers are still going to add a markup to it and/or a bunch of port add ons and BS like paint protection. It’s pure greed.

 

That is just human nature. We are all greedy one way or another. How many times have you eaten the last brownie and not share it with you wife or kids?

Sure prices for mid-sizes are becoming a joke, but if people are willing to pay, it is just business.

 

It's honestly just business. They can sell the truck for what people are willing to pay. I guarantee that if everyone started walking out of dealerships and let them hold on to that inventory they will drop the BS. But, as long as someone is willing to pay they will continue. I don't blame them for charging ADM. Their job is to get as much money from you as they can. Yours is to pay the least. There are plenty of dealers out there not doing this BS. There are Port Options (usually not many) but the cars come to the dealer this way. I bought mine @ MSRP and there were a few port options. None of which I don't find useful. It was only around $900.00

I think that is a bit of a stretch. And you still would not be forced to buy anything.

What state do you live in?

 

I live in Ohio. Northeast Ohio to be specific. There are at least three dealers around me that don’t charge any markup. Can’t help port options though. I got mine through Toyota of Wooster.

 

Thank you. I’ll probably have to go outside my distributor region to get a deal like that. It’s completely nuts here.

Well, technically that's how a market economy works. Except you're talking about a necessity vs. a fancy new truck that we all want but frankly don't need. Nobody is going to die or starve if they can't get a 2024 Tacoma. As I said, it's your job to pay the least you can. That means not paying ADM (plenty of MSRP dealers out there). Letting inventory rot until they stop. I think it's coming. Also, Let's not forget that eggs did jump up a year or so ago, and then came back down.

 

Toyota might not be selling passenger vehicles twenty years from now if the market says so, I doubt if Toyota will be out of business they will still be making forklifts.

 

The issue is every person, regardless of their income, thinking they are entitled to a fancy brand new truck and not thinking twice about over-extending themselves to own one. When I was a kid my dad had all these same gripes about how much a new 1984 F-150 cost. They didn’t have a forum to bitch about it on, but they were all every bit as outraged about the prices back then as we are today. The difference is he was humble enough to drive old pieces of junk rather than take out 5 year loans for something made primarily to feed your ego vs an old beater than can accomplish your true needs. The dealers know Americans are ego-driven and perfectly willing to make bad decisions over trucks and so they price them accordingly.

Nope. Basic supply and demand dictates there will be a certain price people will pay to buy the trucks and clear the lot. Going higher than that price, the trucks will sit on the lot. Unsold inventory is much more costly for dealers now than pre-covid days due to higher interest rates.

 

I do. After paying the old one off in 2 years and driving it for 18 years. I didn’t say nobody should buy a new truck. I said the average truck buyer is overextending themselves for new trucks. When I finally needed a new truck, I bought one I could afford to make double payments on a 3 year note. I would’ve loved to have gotten a limited tundra but I would’ve been overextended on one so I didn’t.
