Yeah my Bucs lost to the Lions, dropped pass in the end zone, missed FG and 2 INTs and it was still fairly close. I can’t be too disappointed in a team losing in the division championship when they were projected to win 4 games all season and finish last in the NFC South. Pitchers and catchers report to spring training next month and I’ll root for the Rays until next football season.

Moved a small snow pile off the driveway yesterday, before it turned to ice. Sometimes, if it's the right consistency, I'll place a pile about the size of a 55gal. drum, at a backup turn blind spot where the car wants to slide. It helps keep the drive wheel on the hard surface. Saved my butt more than once, when I was leaving for work at dark thirty every day. Good to know my old habit memory is intact.

Oh yes! Another beautiful day to be outside! Around 50* and a little wind, up to 7 mph.
Trying a kettlebell workout this morning and hope it goes well, then maybe I’ll drag wifey out for a walk to the local lake.
Yesterday was so nice I went out and played in the yard with my daughter’s old dog. Two old dogs chasing squirrels around the back yard…LOL!
Hoping everyone has a great day outside if possible!

I have a question for the group. Have any of you gotten a "smart" meter for your home. Our power company is telling customers that they will start installing them around the end of February. But they are giving an opt out too. One of the guys at church yesterday was saying hell no. Because they would have more individual control over your power. He's retired Air Force pilot with training in electronics. What are your thoughts.

They did that in my city. Opt out cost you money. They can shut your power off with the flick of a switch. If you pull your meter to do any kind of electrical work on your home They will know about it. It's pure b.s. if you ask me. I'm glad I upgraded my electrical panel before they changed the meter.

Is this a state wide thing or a city / local thing. A panel upgrade is in my future.

It's a power company thing I think, we have Excel energy. It may also be a federal thing as well, too much control over what you do IMO. They are saying they finally have enough meters to offer existing customers but have been installed in new homes for the last 2 years. I upgraded my panel 2 years ago. I had the old CH stab lock panel and I had a bad breaker that I couldn't find a replacement for. That panel had been banned in the eastern states. I got a new meter then also that could be read remotely. It doesn't look like the type they want to put in now. Something they said doesn't feel like it is a good thing. That it will give you the opportunity to change how YOU use your electricity with them.

We do not eat a lot of beef because of health issues. Agreed it is expensive but if is in a recipe then I would like a better grade of beef. The closest real butcher shop is about 45 minutes from my home and I would be on roads that I choose not to drive on, so mail order is a pretty viable option for me.

We had the digital meter installed about 4 years ago. The electric company can now read the meter without walking on the property. I also signed up for energy savings during the summer and really have not noticed a problem. The energy savings days are communicated via text message, so I know the dates and try not to use electricity on those days. Usually, I save around $6 to $8 on those days. The energy savings days are usually for peak hour use and not the entire 24 hours, so doing laundry during the evening on those days helps out as well. I have not noticed an impact. It might be worth your while to look into the meter and any plans that might be a part of the meter install. Also, in Maryland power is governed by a Public Utilities Commission.

I had a Smart meter installed back in 2018 when I lived in townhouse in the High Desert of Socal . It saved me close to $300 per year on my electric bill

I guess we have the wireless meter to read they have controlled our air conditioner and water heater for 20+ years. I heat with nat gas. I don't see the point of it because it would somehow have to have access to other outlets like the fridge to let me know the power drain.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/meter readers. 'Smart' meters are required by law here in Pennsyltucky. All I really know is that we don't get wildly varying electric bills anymore like we used to.

Warmup starting today, snow's gonna melt away.

I want to get a new top box for my garage toolbox; since I got the Caterham I need access to English and Metric sized tools frequently, and my old Craftsman top box is just too small to hold both. I found a box that will fit the bill but it weighs 150+ lbs. and Eastwood's shipper won't deliver it here to my home. So I'm stuck paying a little more to get it at a big box store. They should be able to get it into the Taco's bed for me, and I'll figure out the rest when I get it home. Probably just unpack it and pull all the drawers out to make it lighter.

:rain: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! A 1.3" overnight and current total - don't have to shovel it! And our drought maps should change this week, which would be great. Still abuzz about the Lions win - 66 years that the Championship season hasn't included Detroit, and that wait is over!
