For a 255 width tire, the 17x7.5" wheel with +15mm offset just so happens to be the sweet spot too. Pretty happy with them. The wheels turned out to be 29.2 lb each on my bathroom scale, so you can go lighter with most aftermarket options, but then you'll be stuck with usually an 8.5" wheel width which isn't as great for airing down.

Maybe I’m late to the party but just found out that AT4W’s are offered in 255/85/16’s! Kinda stoked to have another option for us 16” wheel people

One of the guys in this thread already purchased them and had them delivered. We’re just waiting on pics of them installed…

I’m kind of developing an inner in these skinny tires. I understand the off road advantages of them. What I would like know is how do they handle on the roads both dry and in the rain. Is there any more body roll etc than with a “ regular “ tire ? I would assume that the chance of hydroplaning is reduced with the narrower contact patch. Thanks

I decided to dip a toe into the skinny setup. :anonymous:

I have to say, that's the fastest install I've ever seen a Discount Tire do. They had tires with new TPMS sensors mounted and out the door in less than an hour. Good job there, guys.

I really like the look of 255 better than 265. What surprised me though is that the 255 C load has a more cushioned ride than my 265 SL Falkens? I was not expecting that.

I have to wait until the weather warms up to check how much of a milage hit I just took on. So far it looks like at least one, bringing the total up to four below stock. :anonymous:

Thanks for this insight, this makes me SO SO SO happy! I previously had 265/75R16 AT3W's with the SL load and loved them. Switched to skinny MT's and after a year I wanted to go back to AT's so will be installing the new 255/85R16 AT4W's. Comfort was a big part of this decision to go back to AT's.

I really wanted to give the AT4W a go, in hoping that by the time these Toyos are spent there will be more C loads available on the 17" wheel.

Oh, my bad, I see I was reading this too fast while multitasking and working while on my flight home. I missed that your new ones are Toyo's. I had been looking at the 34" Toyo until the AT4W came out in a better size for me that doesn't require I buy new wheels. Although I was still considering the Toyo's, the fact that I could get the Falkens for just a bit over half the cost really sealed the deal.

Here are some pics of the new Falken Wildpeak A/T4W’s mounted on @SCSPerformance F5s, wheels are 16x8, 0 offset. I had to do a little heat gun work, and I still have some very minor rubbing. I haven’t had a chance to take them on the beach yet, but I will report back after my first run.

Do they feel as heavy as they are advertised? I was ready to pull the trigger until I found out they are 58 pounds a tire.

Love the wheels though, I have the same ones in gunmetal.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
Kinda interesting you can find plenty of 265s in C load around 45lbs, the AT4w 255 in load C for 58 is way heavier.

I suspect it’s because of the duraspec sidewall….? Just a guess.

I would assume this as well, still somewhat disappointing. Personally, I would have preferred an AT in that size to be closer to 50 pounds.

Yeah same, that was my general guess of the weight before the stats were released.

Love the bronze with white truck- so clean.
So just to be clear- these are 255/85 r16? And are you on stock suspension or...?
