Had someone attempt to steal some fuel from my truck and was nice enough to use a mud covered hose so i got dirt and other debris down my fuel neck, how concerned should i be with the pump and filter? Almost a full tank when it happened and I didn’t notice until after i drove about 10 miles. Noticed dirty finger marks on my fuel door and realized what happened. What would you guys do??

I wouldn’t be super concerned with it, there’s a sock/filter on the pump. If you really want to know how bad it is you’ll have to drop the tank

Well, gasoline is a solvent so if it isn't much it should dissolve over time. If its a lot it might just clump up

Have faith in your fuel filter or drop and clean the tank. Those pretty much are your choices. IMO, you should be fine. But sorry some asshole did this to your truck.

Thanks for the input everyone, i was leaning towards having faith in the filter and just rolled with it for now since you gotta drop the tank either way if it plugs up or just to look.

Any trouble fueling back up after the jerks stole your gas? I thought I remember some folks saying a valve can get damaged when they siphon.

has anti siphon screen so they can't get to the gas.
i found this out when i tried to siphon gas for my generator, had to siphon out of a neighbors older BMW.

Have not attempted refilling yet i was worried about flushing whatever dirt was in the neck down to the tank but i cleaned out what I could without dropping the tank it was 3/4 full and didn’t get any gas that i can tell this time so we shall see in a couple days, I was wondering about a screen, this is the second time in two weeks this has happened and they did get gas the first time about a half tank so maybe they damaged the screen to
