S and J Engines in Spokane Valley

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy or have a 22re engine rebuilt? We did a web search and found S & J Engines in Spokane Valley, WA. Has anyone purchased or know anything about this company?

We’re replacing a 22RE in a Toyota Pickup and need information about shops that sell good quality engines. If you know of any other businesses, please let us know.

Actually they are about 300 feet from where I work in the Spokane Industrial Park. closer than I thought.

 

They have been around since the 1990’s. They are a legit operation. If you have issues with an order I can always walk over there. Seriously it’s 300 feet away.

We found a few their YouTube videos of the different stages of the machining the heads, blocks, and other parts of engine rebuilding. It looks first class, I’m thankful you took time to check S & J Engines. They have a good warranty. I need to call and ask what brands they use for pistons, bearings, valves and all the internal components.

Everything looks good to me, king bearings are a nice touch, so is a fresh timing cover since the timing cover wearing on a 22re can happen if their timing chain guides fail. Looks like it would be a nice full build.

 

Thanks a million for sending the information for Sunwest and looking at the components. They are forthcoming with part brands and such without having to ask. That means something these days.

 

S AND J has been around a long time they had a decent rep for years. About 10 or so years ago they changed management/ ownership and there rep has been horrible ever since. I have a friend that dealt with them in the last 5 or so years and they were great until he paid for his engine and left with it after that customer service was really bad. If you are dealing with them long distance I would find someone else.

 

That is exactly what I need to know, I watched a youtube video of a guy with a 4.0l jeep engine from them- he did a series of install videos, and a follow-up at one year. He said his rear seal was installed backwards, the head gasket was a cheapo thin one that failed, they put an old version of the 4.0l jeep head on that was known for failing, and a few more things including the warranty was only 12 months and not 7 years. It made me question S & J a little, but your friend having issues and the company being sold ten years ago is a good warning to stay away from them.
