That idea doesn’t suck. I hate how fucked up the wrap is on the truck right now.

One friend had his taco painted by Maaco, it seemed ok. For the price and a desert truck I'd probably do it, but the attention to detail for the rest of your beautiful truck I'd think twice... It would suck to have so much bling and rad parts only to be over sprayed with crappy paint job ):

    Yes
It’s not rocket science and if you use a single stage enamel you can easily cut and buff it yourself and end up with a really nice finish…99% of a paint job is in the body work and prep

edit - if you diy it don’t do a metallic color there is a much harder learning curve laying down an even metallic color and it’s a total bitch to touch up

I have painted several cars and two airplanes. It is a pretty steep learning curve, but certainly doable. Full auto sprays add to that challenge via the need for orchestrating the steps and a lot of masking that makes or breaks the final product. Remember that spraying the paint is less than 5% of the work. You will want to do a lot of research first to minimize beginner mistakes.

I think that color will look great on your truck.

I'd like something close to MGM, just without the metallic when it's time to paint (which was about 2 years ago when the clear on the roof started to fail).

Motion raceworks lopro coolant crossover installed. Had to modify it quite a bit from how it was designed to work. Had to extend all 4 lines to fit around the fast intake.

Not pictured, but I had my rear fans wired up incorrectly, but we’re good now and they’re activating when they’re supposed to.

    engine bay complete.

pushed outside, waiting for 454 to grab this thing and finish it up!

he is remaking my coolant hard lines all the way to the bed, since the last job by a different shop, was fubar. he’s going to truss my rear axle, shorten the front bump stops, and a few other small things as well

Bought the wife a raptor today. This thing is so much better than the Tacoma in basically every way except off-road performance. I feel like less of a man since the wife is driving a bigger badder truck than I am…

The Raptor’s finally at ford, confirmed the oil pan, timing cover, and both valve covers are leaking oil. While they’re in there, they’re going to replace all the timing chains, tensioners, guides, and all 4 phasers, both valve covers, and oil pan. $2300 later for parts and labor.… pretty good deal from what I’ve been reading. 21 hours of labor to do everything. They’re hooking it up for me.

on Tacoma news, 454 is getting started on Monday, said that I might have the truck back end of next week. Super pumped about that.

Today’s the day the Tacoma goes under the knife, for hopefully the last time for a long time. Until cab cage that is.

454 is getting started on a new set of coolant pipes from the engine to the rear mount rad, as well as trussing my rear axle, and mounting some S2’s in my rear bumper.

Picking the raptor up from ford today too, and some go fast parts for the IS come this week.

will update with pics as soon as I get some!
