Start/Stop System from '24 Tacoma Manual

See attached PDF regarding the Tacoma Start/stop system

 

Wonder if you can configure the system to default off when you cycle the ignition on TIS?

 

Whats TIS?

 

Toyota Techstream. Factory OBD tool that you can customize many systems in the car.

 

A portion of the manual does offer some adjustment of the SS system by the vehicle owner without using the TIS.

 

Thats why I'm wondering if you can set the auto/stop start feature to default off.

I did this in my BMW M2c. Been 5 years now and I never used the dumb system especially in a 6MT. It would be very annoying to physically press a button each time to turn it off.

 

I seems like from what I skimmed through that SS resets every time the engine is turned off.

I don’t see that file under the 2024 Tacoma.

Yes, there's 2 files there. The owners manual and the warranty/maintenance guide. I made the PDF from the owners manual.

 

Same thing on new Tundras. It’s honestly not a bad feature. Just press the button if you want it off or don’t press the brake pedal all the way down.

I thought I was gonna hate auto start stop. Once I started driving several cars with it I couldn’t come up with a reason to hate it. I’ve driven a dozen or so cars with it and it has always been flawless and immediate. I’m sure there’s a reason for somebody else to hate it, but for me it works great.

 

What state are you in?

 

I had a BMW with it and the AC would always struggle to stay cold (might have been dehumidified) when stopped at lights. This was a while ago so maybe it's gotten better.

 

Just like on 3rd gens with ECT always on mod, you can probably do a timer relay to turn this off automatically. I'm sure someone way better in electronics will come up with it not too long after fart gens appear on the roads. I don't like it in our other vehicle that has it so it's turned off at startup.
