I don't know if I feel devastated, yet, anyway but I've just had a couple of blood tests that indicate I likely have a form of bone marrow cancer. Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia to be exact. Really I haven't had time to process it just yet. I have my first appointment with an oncologist coming up on the 8th and until then I'm not going to worry about it...much.
There's a lot of family history of colon cancer, on my dad's side of the family anyway. It killed him at 72 years of age, one year older than I am now.
On the bright side, if there is one, the internet tells me that CLL is treatable and usually a very slowly progressing disease with the 5 year survival rate something like 85 percent, so pretty good odds.
At least with Leukemia I probably won't have anyone wielding a scalpel around my nether regions. You guys are making me shudder with that kind of talk.

Sorry @Horseshoez and @Sprig I hope you don't take my lame joke about it wrong but it's kinda either laugh or cry with me right now. I'm guessing you probably understand that.

Mid winter thaw here, 35 and rain and fog. After the deep freeze and now the thaw the roads are coming apart, pot hole city.

Just got home from my weekly Wednesday breakfast with my retired old fart friends. We have a great time and solve all the world problems. The world is saved for another week. Really look forward to it every week. Now I begin the never ending honey do list. That should take me into the afternoon when it’s cat in the lap nap time in my recliner. Great stormy day for duck hunting but neither me nor the dog are motivated. Happy Wednesday all (and for those retired happy Saturday)

For the record, I love my wife dearly, we’ve been together for 43 years and married almost 41 years. She obviously has a great sense of humor. We are getting serious about moving from Odessa to Ocala so my wife can be close to her family and I retire. We started boxing stuff up and putting it in storage and we keep stumbling upon treasures from way back in the day. The best one so far was a box of stuff my sister sent me after my mom passed and she had cleaned out mom’s house. I never opened the box, just put on a shelf and forgot about it. Well! It was full stuff I never knew my mom kept, all the way back to my PAL “participation certificate” from the 1968 little league season, school photos and report cards and such all the up to my high school prom pictures and photos of my then girlfriend and me at my JC graduation almost 45 years ago. I mentioned how pretty she was and that one got me the hard side-eye from my wife. I tried diffusing the situation by telling my wife she was an upgrade looks-wise but that was not received as well as you might imagine. Yeah, these are fun times.

Apologies...yes and now I'm in the 386 area code for a few days. So that is what I chose for a handle on here. Jim727386. We have a place in North Florida as well that I'v ebeen rebuilding. Been MIA...my mother-in-law has been in hospice care and a few other things going on.

A little something every chance we get.
Well, not sure I caught up on everything... but I gave it a shot.

Not a very pictorial day at the hangar, planes still in maintenance mode, but lights off and no one doing much today. I thought I might coax the old 2800 into a sweeter, and giving mood with some 40's music. Apparently, she never had a radio. I tried the usual assortment of banging, and wrenching on those stubborn gland nuts. I spent at least a half hour glaring at it. Then I got an idea.

    20240124_105911.jpg
    20240124_105923.jpg
    20240124_111729.jpg
    20240124_112137.jpg

The gland wrench, tightened on with a hose clamp, my ratchet (because someone had the only 3/8 breaker bar, and the pipe.

This worked for several, although they still required coaxing with the other tools as well. But the day was a VICTORY, as I got ONE PART actually off, not just loose. Actually had a senior CAF member help me bang on things this afternoon. I think he just moved back - we'll talk without hammers next time.

Oh, and another 1.4" of rain today, that's not done yet.

    Good morning from the 386!

    What’s for breakfast?

I plan on enjoying a leftover biscuit and gravy from Hardee’s and I’ll fry up an egg to go with it… With a few grape tomatoes with salt and a dollop of mayo.

Good morning all. Supposed to get up close to 50 today so our snow from last week should be gone soon. Might even get a bike out tomorrow and ride to work.

PT has helped me for all my nagging injuries. I still do shoulder and back therapy every day.

Shoulder therapy has worked for me.

 The correct response would be "Sure am glad I married you". I have a feeling you used up all your Atta Boy's.

    Breaker bar FTW!

Good morning. Dropped off the guitar yesterday. Should be able to pick it up the week after next. Today is seniors' day at Harris Teeter so my weekly grocery shopping is on tap today. Lots of warming yesterday and today. Snow is almost gone.
