    Hi everyone!

I’m slowly working on building my 98 up to be as practical as possible for my lifestyle. I use it for work occasionally so it has seen loads that are quite large already. A ton of fence pickets and 2x4s definitely had me riding pretty low in the back.

This truck is also going to be driving me to Alaska and back this summer so I will have all of my gear and one very large dog riding with me on the long journey north.

it’s pretty obvious that I need new shocks and the leaf springs are looking sad. My neighbor is going to do the work for me to upgrade the leaf springs but I’m just not sure what to get. I plan on putting 5100’s on and shooting for a roughly 1-1.5” lift. Given the amount of weight I will be carrying for the summer and the occasional load of concrete and lumber I would like something more heavy duty than OEM.

    suggestions?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I like my combination of General Springs Heavy Duty and Super Springs it worked for how I used my truck.

Giving it a decent ride when unloaded for a pick up truck. Worth checking that out.

You will be surprised how fast the weight adds up on your adventure this summer.

It's the new member who don't like searching and reading through old post. They figure what they want/need does not reflect them and would just post new (old) question.

I'll second both the use of the search button and General Springs. I tow a heavy trailer and have a lot of stuff in my truck. I have 5100's, which have definitely not been up to the job, General Springs HD leaf springs, Firestone airbags. That's kept my truck level, and yeah probably about 1 or 1 1/2" lift.

Forums are generally very cluttered with hundreds of threads on the same topic. Rather than add one more, search first and it may turn out you don't need to ask. You'd be amazed how many thousands of people there are out there who frequent this site, but have never created an account, because by using Search, they get all their questions answered.

Here's a good overview of the options for rear leaf springs. From stock height with no weight to a small lift, to carrying hundreds of extra pounds with a 3" lift.
