My new 03 - Full tuneup suggestions

Hi all,

Proud new owner of an 03 3.4l 4x4 120k with no drivability issues and very happy I found you all!

Since buying it a few days ago I have done the following and would appreciate any other suggestions you think are prudent.

• Trans (auto) drain and fill
• F/R diffs and TC, drain and filled with Mobil 1 75-90
• Radiator/engine block drained, flushed 2x, and refilled with red coolant 50/50
• New air filter with deck plate mod
• Factory plugs and wires
• New (Reman) front calipers (one was siezed), pads and rotors full DOT3 system flush
• Adjusted ebrake
• lubed drive shafts and propeller shafts
• Seafoam through vac port and tank of gas

My questions are first and foremost what did I miss?

Fuel Filter
Second I understand that the fuel filter is not a maint item on toyota? While I tend to disagree that there is such a thing as a lifetime filter I would like your opinions on whether this needs to be changed and if anyone who has changed it has cut it open to look at the condition. The cost of the filter does not concern me but I live in New England and the fittings on the fuel line are rusty and the thought of replacing a fuel line is scary.

Rear drums
Third - how many miles are folks gettting out of the rear drums? I have 5/32 of lining remaining but without knowing how thick it was originally it is hard to tell when they should be looked at again.

Other Misc
What else should be lubed/checked out? Timing and drive belts were done at 89.5k

PS - planning on relocating all diff and TC breathers as well

 

Definitely change the fuel filter....will make a difference. Check with dealership on the lower ball joints to see if they have been changed in the recall they had for it. Clean the throttle body as well.

 

Spray throttle body with intake cleaner and lube with silicon spray? Or are folks removing the whole assembly and bench cleaning? Also it is my understanding that the gasket for the TB is restrictive... Could someone clarify?

 

I leave my tb on and use seafoam deep creep spray and a tooth brush....works awesomely. The gasket has a bit of material in the way....but I doubt its restrictive enough to tell a difference. Btw.....the seafoam deep creep actually lubricates the throttle plate.

 

Ok I benched cleaned the Throttle Body which was surprisingly clean and I've started to PB blast the connections on the fuel filter.

What else should be looked at? Or am I done
