Any news on when replacement latches will be available for purchase for current owners? (I am on 'the list')

 

I got in Trouble last time I posted pictures. However I will know more next month when we meetup with Smartcap and report back.

 

As mentioned, all of the new 6ft bed 2022+ Tundra caps started shipping this month with the new latches. All caps produced after in their Texas facility will come with the new latches (this includes Tacoma). 6ft Tacoma caps up first, followed by 5ft caps. February current best estimate for shipping as of today.

For those wanting the new latches as a standalone item, we're being told March/April as the vendor producing them is only able to provide limited quantities.

 

I'll just buy another smartcap for the latches, swap them out and return it heh

 

I'm in search of load bars for mounting an RTT.

Leaning towards the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 mini or the Roofnest Falcon 2 (or its Chinese Amazon knockoff, the Naturenest Bamacar, which has actually gotten really good reviews).

What's the main difference between the load bars from RSI or the Front Runner load bars? Any reason to get one over the other?

Offroad Alliance is charging 70 bucks for shipping the load bars also, damn.

The main difference is the FrontRunner load bars are almost always in stock. Shoot us a PM or give us a call, we can help with the shipping costs.

 

The front runner bars sit a little higher. So you can’t mix and match.

 

The RSI load bars are slightly narrower and are better for the mounting system on Ikamper, yakima, James baroud.

I've been contemplating a smart cap, but it really is difficult for me to pull trigger when full payment is required while the delivery date is unknown. I can't think of anything where full payment is required prior to delivery of goods or services. Crazy times.

 

not a rsi, but i paid for my alucab *contour shell* up front. a little over 4k. i was told 3 months but it took closer to 6 to finally get it

nope. it was last year. i think i paid for it sometime in june. it was finally delivered sometime in november. sucks because i wanted it for a road trip in september, but needed to find an alternative security option so i didnt have an open bed of stuff while driving around oregon

Not sure who you are working with, but a delivery window is always given. The NA plant has been working on a different application every month. For instance last month was Tundra's this month is Tacoma's, next month is F150's. We have always allowed for a deposit and our website allows for payments up to 12 months. You have plenty of options, work with a dealer who keep you updated. Having said that if you never put in an order how does the plant know how many to make? Just a thought.

 

That's very typical for lots of car and truck mods. Last time I bought skid plates or sliders payment was up front without a delivery date.

Hell I bought replacement taillights for my BMW last year that were backordered. Payment was taken and I got my lights 8 months later.

 

Don't get too discouraged. There's always the second hand market where I've seen a few for sale for about $3000 flat. Also there are a handful of dealers that have them in stock on hand, luckily I found one and had it installed nearly the next day.
