I blame winter gas. My MPGs are down as well from the pretty high numbers I was seeing on my summer/early fall trips.

Could be the winter gas usage time...I don't put a lot of miles on my truck on the daily...maybe 9-15 miles/day.

Work is less than 5 miles so my roundtrips are under 10 miles...if I don't stop anywhere for errands.

Sometimes I go for a short cruise to open her up (OTT Style) but during this winter snow I'm going straight home.

Good morning Delaware + neighboring states.

Overcast this morning...making it look darker than usual at this time.

    Rain is forecast for tomorrow.

They say Lockers will get you into trouble; a winch will get you out of trouble.

Lockers are great and I intended to install an e-locker eventually; but I've wheeled through some shit in the ozarks, along side people with lockers, and at worst it meant i need to take a better line or take the obstacle by-pass. I'll re-post this vid showing a jeep with front and rear lockers struggle up a section of trail, using the same make/model/size tires I have on my truck. It shows what picking a better line mixed with my longer wheelbase can do. The video was more than twice this long; I edited out another 5 minutes before this one starts, showing his efforts. And he's not a bad driver - he's a good driver.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWuRHxCxQDc

Figure $2000 for a locker + install and i think I could take four camping trips for that $. It is NOT "better to have it and not need a locker than need it and not have it." It IS better to NOT-Need it and not have it than to spend 2k for something that almost never gets used. Ask most folks in this area - the NE has few wild lands/limited wheeling compared to out west - and I wonder if they'd tell you they don't use their locker more than 2 hours per year. Tires are half the battle. Driver skill is the other half. And the final half is probably luck. :)

    Thanks for your honest feedback!

When I get new wheels/tires, it will cost double the amount of a locker.

Morning neighbors. Hoping the rain will wash away some of the salt spray. Maybe get the truck through a car wash this afternoon if it’s not raining. If not today, then tomorrow. Don’t worry, it’ll be a touchless wash!

Good morning Eric...and Delaware + neighboring areas.

Looks like most of the snow has melted from the rain here this am.

I blasted all the salts the other day at the Buggy Carwash...16 quarters!

It's almost Friday and I'm amazed at how fast this month has gone.

Four grand? oof. But you'll still get better capability with tires than anything. :)

It all depends on how pricy the wheels are...the shop I goto does the whole enchilada.

I'd want to get dealership to install the TRD lift so I can at least go 285/70R17 on tires...I want a little pokey for the Bushwacker fendys.

Thinking about it now...maybe I should skip the Shop I've gone to for other stuff and just put it together myself.

I hear Discount Tires is a great way to go...buy the Wheels separate and make it work.

But, that's just a thought right now...I'm at 25K miles and don't plan on making an upgrade until 50K+ miles.

Just drive up to my house in the spring. We can put the lift on in a day since you don't have any rust like I did. Then you'll just need an alignment after.

    Oh man!

I know you have the garage for the job!

    That is too crazy!

Don't tell my wife I'm excited.

Looking at Sparksparts I see the lift kit is roughly $1403.

    https://www.sparksparts.com/oem-parts/toyota-trd-lift-kit-pt84k35221

My only concern is, does the dealership have to do install to keep warranty?

The TSS alignment would be my worry. I don't have issues with the aftermarket grill/garnish currently installed with OEM suspension.

Things to look forward to and plan...I'm excited.

Is the warranty the only reason you are going with that lift? Don’t you already have a pro grill?

I’d say talk with Colton @memario1214 for a Billie 6110/5160 kit… oh, and I saw someone on fb selling a mbm fender with a snorkel, you could go ahead and get that too

Yeah, I have an aftermarket grill that works fine with TSS.

If I bought that kit, I'd have dealership install the OEM grill and do their TSS alignment and sell the aftermarket.

The only other addition I'd want (after new wheels/tires) is a Diamondback Tonneau cover...I still have Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners to install.

After that, I think I'd be done with Mods on my Sporty Spice.:dancingbacon::broccoli:

Im not 100% but I think if a dealer installs that kit they remove the fog lights. I’d have to look into that but think I remember reading about it

They're supposed to...but I've read where people ask dealership to leave the fogs lights installed.

I'd ask the service tech if this was possible before I made a decision.

Good plan! I’ll still try and talk you into another kit though…. And I have no real reason why :anonymous:

Maybe a undeserving dislike of the brand or a dislike of dealership prices

Just tell me to stop it and I will. I have no idea of the quality of the brand but at that price the Billie’s might be a better deal. If it’s for the warranty, can’t beat that… unless they’ll let you order the pro fox set up.

All this is just talk until I move forward...so keep the ideas flowing!!!

I'll need to save for this plan...before I can convince my wife that I've earned it by having cash in-hand beforehand. lol

It gives me something to look forward to.

Well I’ve read a thing of two here

between you me and the random internet users and while I do like my Ironman kit, if there is a next time I might go with another kit.

I have no complaints, it’s just a little stiffer than I’d like. Now granted, that was probably 80% from the E rated tires. And after putting my winter wheels and tires on the suspension feels much better, I have this personal issue that I have to screw with things that there is nothing wrong with things.

Not sure what else I would go with and I really like the IM are maintenance free and I could rebuilt them if needed. The constant “sales” promotions does leave an odd taste.

I like the idea of of having adjusters and then never using them :thumbsup:
