Check out South Dakota. Not too far west and it will definitely whet your appetite. Lots of great hiking and beautiful scenery.

X2. Badlands, Wind Cave, and Custer State Park make for a great few days. If you can swing a September trip, even better. Miss most of the summer vacation crowds and non-peak hotel rates if you need one

Flew out to Seattle for work and rented an old VW Vanagon to explore the area. Visited Olympic, Mt. Rainier, and North Cascades National Parks. All were beautiful in their own way! I know- not a Taco, but the VW had a pop-up like mine! Maybe not my favorite of ALL National Parks I've been to, but North Cascades was my favorite of the three.

I just went up to Seattle as well and hiked for a few days. Went out the the North Bend area twice for some lake hikes. IMG_7700.jpg IMG_7757.jpg IMG_7750.jpg

Waterton Lakes in Alberta! I experienced this park for the first time this summer and enjoyed it much more than Glacier. Notice all the other people / vehicles at the trail head in this pic.

During my 3.5 hour hike, in August, I saw ZERO people on the trail. I had to double check the ranger station to see if it was closed or some other reason no one was on it.
