I thought the universal was that the top of the headlight beam is supposed to be less than 3~ feet height at 25ft away

According to Stern there's a lot more to it than that. The optimal beam height at 25' is based on the height of the lamp itself. Low beams cutoff should be 0-3" lower than the lamp, depending on the lamp design and height. Fog lights should be 1.5-4" lower depending on height.

"Less than 3ft at 25ft" is probably a decent approximation for a Tacoma, but it would be far too high for an econobox. Aim too low and you're sacrificing projection distance, too--but for sake of other drivers I'd rather aim too low than too high.

Wasted an hour today having the 03 Land Cruiser emission tested at Golden facility. I really need to make a more concerted effort to seek out drive by roadside testing in the future. I just have a problem letting other people drive my vehicles; especially when they appear to be struggling to perform the test properly. Perhaps all wheel drive vehicles are more difficult to test than 2wd drive vehicles.

For what it's worth; She PASSED!

Note this LC100 has 250k+ miles with original cats and 4.7L engine.

    Yep, 2nd gen benefits :)

that’s basically what the 2nd gen FSM states. 1” or something below the lamp height is where to aim on that wall 25’ away.

It took three months but I finally got a refund of $119 from Groove Toyota the salesman was great but not sure I’d deal with their finance department again.

Honestly, I think projectors were a bad idea. Everything has them from the factory now. They suck for the driver because there is zero illumination past the cutoff which can really suck. Then, even properly aimed, you can blind folks because this ain't Kansas and not all our roads are perfectly flat. Not sure it's reasonable to expect anyone to adjust their lights because they loaded up their truck bed and then readjust them an hour later because they unloaded it.
We probably should've stuck with the regular headlights from 10-15 years ago.

I've just started leaving the high beams on when I drive the crv at night. The headlights are piss poor and I doubt anyone thinks anything of it compared to other cars on the road.

I know we bitch about this all the time in this thread but..

I flash all those "bros" that drive with their damn 1 million lumen yellow fog lights. Always when there's no weather and no reason to have them on. Like if you are going to have fog lights that bright, at least take the 10 minutes to learn how to aim them properly. Doubt they even have DOT approved fogs either.

I feel like the middle finger is the best way to get your point across. Flashing lights can be mistaken for warning of a speed trap ahead, thanks bro, whereas the middle finger is definitely hostile intent.

You are not wrong. I stopped flipping people off since road rage got so bad here. Had a very interesting situation and told myself it isn't worth it anymore.

    Stuff. Also things.
I find a sarcastic thumbs up gets the point across just as well, but even that isn’t really worth it to me anymore. Too many unhinged shitheads out there these days, and I have too many people depending on me to get into it with someone over something ultimately so trivial.

I’m also just not looking for conflict like a lot of the rage-addicted twats out there nowadays either. Beating the fuck out of someone (or getting go the fuck beaten out of you) or worse, shooting someone or getting shot yourself are all pretty terrible outcomes, so why engage?

I didn't get a picture from the other side, but whoever parked this was kind enough to leave their LED headlights on for all eastbound traffic to enjoy.

I just prefer a solid thumbs down approach, sometime a head shake of disappointment added in at the same time. It usual throws them off being too angry.

I typically wave. There’s usually no response after that. I may act a little oblivious but I know exactly where each corner of my truck is.
