Based on your admission that a truck with 190,000 miles and 11 years old is running on the original fluids (except oil), I'd say that statement is false. You have been given good advice here. ALL fluids need to be refreshed or changed, and I'd be surprised if your plugs arent part of the problem. The first thing I'd do is check the transmission fluid level, since its already giving you a hint that something is not right.
Good luck! Let us know if you are able to reverse your mileage and tranny issues.

Getting stuck in 4th gear and terrible mpg is not running “perfect”, and basically no maintenance for 190000+ miles is not what anyone would consider taken care of and never abused. I’m not arguing with you I’m just saying your truck has had shit care. The lack of maintenance will likely show up down the road when things start to fail. But hey if no maintenance works for you then more power to you. If it’s been successful so far why change now.

Agree with everyone on cleaning the MAF (properly), changing diff fluid, drain fill coolant, change plugs, drain and fill (not flush) the transmission (there are good posts on doing that here), change the PCV valve and like others have said I would go back to an OEM or Wix air filter. The K&N oil can gum up the MAF and other items. You may have done this when you replaced your front brake "cylinders" (assuming you meant calipers) but you should flush your brake fluid and replace with fresh as well. Also be sure to grease the prop shaft.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Along with draining the coolant, replace thermostat, radiator cap, and upper and lower hoses.

Get new shocks and new battery, change brake fluid, and change whatever p/s fluid you can with turkey baster.

    HI guys ,

I have a 2008 tacoma 4x2 2.7L 4 cylinder truck . I need to know if the 4x4 and 4x2 Front Wheel bearings and hub assembly are the same or compatible with one and other.

oh man i hate these things :anonymous: ditch it and go with the paper filters. Others' MAF cleaning suggestion is dead on, give that a try. If it were me, Id do a single drain and fill of the trans, change out coolant, and replace plugs.

Yeah I would absolutely change the serpentine belt, its easy and pretty cheap compared to it breaking far from a replacement and getting stuck after running the battery dead..

This is a pretty good video on how to replace the serpentine belt:

I replaced mine with a denso/toyota part number belt and kept the original in case shit hits the fan when I’m driving.

Here’s a diagram of the layout:
