2024 SR5 for $47,173. 2023 SR5 with Tech Pkg and same options is $43,515 (if you add in the body side molding).

'23 doesn't have heated seats, add those in @$655 (-$60 for included deck cleats), doesn't have heated steering wheel ($200?), doesn't have integrated trailer brake controller (cost?), doesn't have power rear window ($200?), doesn't have FLEX speaker (cost?). Adding just the heated seats, wheel, and window brings the '23 price to $44,570, $2,603 less than the 2024. That's a 5.8% increase, less than last year's inflation rate.

Check the math. Not sure all of the trim levels compare the same, but this particular configuration is priced, inflation adjusted, less than last year...:crapstorm:

Sure, people value their money and consumer goods differently. You earn it, can spend it any way you want.

It is fun comparing what you can purchase for “X” amount of dollars. Lay out whatever your budget is on a table and see what you can get for it.

Pretty sure all double cabs other than base SR have had the power sliding rear window as standard equipment since 2017, starting with 24 it looks like you need to buy an expensive option package to get it.

Hard to make apples to apples comparison here. Rear slider was standard on the Gen3. Does the '24 SR5 come with power seats? I believe the '23 does. An SR5 with the winter package is running about 48K at my local dealer. Thats a lot of coin no matter how you cut it.

If it makes someone about to (allegedly) pay way too much for a Tacoma feel better, I would guess that probably by 2028, a $47k SR5 or $54k TRDOR will actually seem like a good value.

But we’re still arguing “small” money right now. Let’s see reaction when Toyota unleashes those hybrid stickers $$$.

I checked the math. It’s expensive.

A couple of corrections. '24 does not have power seats and '23 had standard power slider. The '24 still has a lot of new valuable features like coil rear suspension. How do you price/value that? It also has LED headlights which were optional(?) on the '23. Bottom line, the two vehicles I spec'ed are equally optioned and there is less than 7% ($3K) increase on the '24. Correction #2, I was thinking of the 2021 inflation rate which was 6.5%. 2023 was (supposedly) only 3.4% and of course 2022 was 9.1%.

Yes, the 2024s are more expensive. Was that silver SR5 outrageously more expensive than the same truck in 2023? Not really.

Other trims may price out differently and Chevys and Fords are still less expensive, but that's the way it has always been.

Makes a 40k Z71 look that much better.

The Z71 starts at 40K plus $1,600 Dest Charge. Add the standard Toyota safety features and a trailer brake controller and you are 43K. That still doesn't give you adaptive cruise and rear pedestrian alert because those are bundled with options that would add another 3K.

You may not want to pay for enhanced safety features but some people consider them value added.

Were people actually paying $44K for a third gen SR5?

That's a $950 option package to get all the safety stuff on the Z71. The Z71 also includes surround vision.

Trailer package is a $650 option package.

    We're also arguing about the value of a SR5 vs. a Z71.

SCS, Fuel, Black Rhino, etc. are going to make a killing on wheels for the 2024.

Go ahead and add that $950 option, you get this:

I certainly hope not. I saw tons of Sport/OR trims for that much.

I dont think the price on the 3rd gen you're looking at is too far off. I ran mine thru Carvana a few months ago (just because) and I was offered (I think) $27k. That's an '18 stripped down OR (no packages) with 90k at the time. I paid $34k new....6 years ago.

Same. If I was currently in the market today the first place I'd go is the nearest Nissan dealership, and I'd probably end up leaving with one. And I've driven Toyotas since the late 80's. I'm not paying $50k+ for a vehicle until I've totally run out of options.

Yup. Those are some ugly wheels. I’m not a fan of the unpainted edge. That fad is played out.

The Z71 certainly has a more powerful engine. What do you think makes it much better than an SR5?
