I made a custom plywood cart for my drill press with drawer for loose drill bits, and a lower door with a few shelves to store various drill related tooling.

That being said- The only thing I would change about it, is to add a raised edge / lip around the table top (where the press mounts to) to create a tray. Idea is to catch as much debris before it hits the floor. Not such a big deal with wood or plastic, but I really like to keep sharp metal bits off the ground so the shop dog doesn't get something stuck in her paws...

Yesterday at work we purchased a Braun LED light. While testing it out (playing), one of the guys grabbed the outer metal cage, and was promptly shocked. As we are all tech nerds, someone broke out the multimeter. Sure enough, short through to the metal cage. It was returned (without hassle), and the manager indicated this was not the first time this was discovered.

    Be careful with these!

To be fair, it does look like some sort of torture device.

I like your idea of a lip. I was thinking of using melamine for the top as it would be easy to keep clean, but it's a wide unsupported span and my heavy ass drill press has a small footprint. All of that weight is going to be over just the board, not the metal support around the edges. My experience with melamine used horizontally is it sags unless it's well supported. I may add a second piece of 3/4 ply on top of the existing before I hoist the drill press up. The bottom shelf has the battery charger I use on my car. Perfect spot for it. I may figure out some kind of cover for it so debris from the DP doesn't get into it, or just move it when I'm using the DP.

On a totally different note, holy shit the cost of plywood is still insane. This crap 3/4 ply costs more than the metal stand.

I own two pairs of these pliers from snap on and they are the best and most versatile pliers I have ever used. Harbor freight ones look pretty similar.

I'm rebuilding a double wide mobile home that was on our property when we purchased it. It was abandoned for 5 years and quite destroyed. Had a choice. Rebuild or demo it.
So thankful for HF tools that have been great for me and still going. They wont owe me anything when I'm done with this place. Almost 2 years now. I'm not impressed with their blades though.
Bauer cordless: Running on 3 AH , 5 AH and 1.5 AH batteries
    Recip saw
    Impact driver
    Hammer drill
    Oscillating saw
    Jig saw
    Corded recip saw too
Also bought a HF drywall lift (second hand on craigslist for $150), used it for a couple months and sold it for what I paid.

I'm steadily converting over to the Hercules 20v tools.

They have a 5 year unconditional warranty, so HF must be confident in their quality.

I just sprung for the inside track membership. This way I can hopefully save some money when I grab the next Hercules tool or battery. This also is a way to track purchase dates for said tools if I need to warranty one out.

I was surprised to find that they use your phone # as the membership. I asked if I could give my number out to someone else to make a purchase and get the IT club price? The counter person said as long as they have your name and city, no one is going to care on the store end.

Me: Yes, I would like to apply my ITC number to the purchase of this band saw please (in my local California store).
HF Cashier: Sure what's your name, city and number and I'll look that up for you.
Me: Uh, Kirk Koditten, Central Michigan. I forgot what number I used.
    HF Cashier: Get Out.

oof. A major org that brings their site down during peak hours has some things to learn. My eBiz team can’t bring site features down until 10pm PST at the earliest. I guess cheap tools pay for cheap devs :pccoffee:

Those are very nice. Good value. Great for working under sinks, inside car, behind desks. I’ve even slid it inside a shirt pocket in liew of a headlamp
